Lets start this off with the acting leader of the liberal democrats. Ed showing us all a fine example of the art of virtue signalling. Hats off.

More generally, I take my hat off to the many people that do nice stuff, anonymously.

He’ll be chowing down on £4.99 200 piece ‘chicken’ cottage meal when the sun goes down.

Here’s what the rules should be.

You don’t get to moan about virtue signalling if you-

    1- Sing the National anthem.
    2- Wear a poppy.
3- Stand on your doorstep on a Thursday night and clap.
    4- Wear a ‘56’ hoodie.

    Etc.

It isn’t doing the things. It is then taking pictures of it and sharing it across social media

Sorry if my reply was taken out of context. Weirdly i don't do the things mentioned i probably do virtue signal at some point without realising although i try not to. The video of Ed Davey posted, i'm not against him doing what he wants. If he wants to starve himself all day in the belief it shows solidarity then good for him. Posting a video of him doing it on the other hand just makes him look a tw@t.

Altruism doesn’t need a public display. If you feel the need to display how virtuous you are and how much you care, such as wearing a poppy or hoodie in public, then that’s virtue signalling.

Totally agree, I’m not even sure what point he’s trying to prove, to be totally honest.

Like the celebs making their buildings available for the NHS to use. Seems like a nice gesture but to make sure i'm gonna post a video on all my social media platforms to let people know i'm doing it. All about the likes and retweets cos where theres a disaster theres brass to be made. Like Elon Musk turning up to the flooded caves in Chile with his 'submarine' invention.

It's not always about money, many people need to be liked, it's some kind of obsession. Their lives revolve around Facebook and Twitter and is quantified by the amount of Facebook friends or Twitter followers they have. The fake online persona they have where they're the 'bestest' person ever. They hide their real opinions and follow the rest of the sheep in saying what they think other people will like. I actually prefer the trolls to these sorts of people.

alternatively it is making use along a product as it is designed. Whereas using it and then publicising it on social platform is going that extra step to show what you are doing
