what a display from these 2 today, especially Vaughan who was here, there & everywhere, from attack and back to defending a corner. Far too good for League 2

Just praying to god they both stay injury/suspension free!

Clinical finishing. It's a while since we've seen that. I thought Donaldson was outstanding.

I thought they were both outstanding today really shone that both are too good for this level when playing like that pray to god Vaughan isn't seriously injured. Vaughan won more balls in the air in our box from set pieces for Oldham today than any of our defenders. Donaldsons goal was a super finish but the way he fought for the ball and layed it to Scannell was very impressive. Take a bow boys superb. Keep going like this and we could have one of the best strike partnerships in the league! What a difference a good match makes eh!

Oldham I have to say are in trouble that defence will see them spanked a few times this season.

Oldham's defence might improve once Wheater is fit, but they offered nothing up front after hitting the post first half. I understand that Vaughan isn't injured - apparently Bowyer took him off because he has a cough!

Both outstanding today. It helped Wheater wasnt playing though!

The movement and finishing was a cut above league 2 from both of them

They were clearly the difference between the teams today, along with O'Connor and BRE

They looked too good for league 2 today, and should score a fair few between them. Just pray they stay free of injury

Vaughan MOM for me. Put in a shift especially 2nd half when he was playing a lot deeper helping out.

That's the worry Idle. We definitely need one but ideally two forwards to come in and take the pressure off them a bit and give us the option to give them a rest from time to time to keep them fresh.

You wouldn't put money on either Donaldson or Vaughan or Scannell making 40 games for us so Bowyer simply has to bring in a new kid on loan at the very least.
But looking forward to watching these 2 play, with better service coming down the pipeline.

About time we stuffed Oldham. Well done City. We're getting three points at Stevenage too, imo. Just glad our home fans had a decent win to watch!

Vaughan was outstanding the whole game. As has been said "here there and everywhere" He's also got the "Windass factor" in that he knows what to do and when to win his battles and have the Ref on his side. Both Vaughny and The Don are hugely experienced wily footballers who are playing one level down at least !

I mentioned this a few weeks ago and it has been mentioned a lot on here, the bonus factor that our younger players can learn from them. Wasn't it Paudie the other week who said how Donaldson was teaching him how to stop getting spun ? Hopefully Patrick can get some tips too. Either way, a couple of very good experienced older heads for the younger lads to look up to and learn from.

And as someone pointed out earlier, it's also not a bad selling point to any potential Championship/PL clubs thinking about loaning us one of their young players.

Superb performances from both strikers. Honestly can't remember when I last saw one striker give oppositions defence such a hard time, let alone 2.

Love that 3rd goal, full blooded but fair tackle from vaughan to win the 50/50 ball then brilliant hold up from Clayton before very neatly playing in Scannell for a great finish, what a good team goal

I loved all our goals on Saturday, but that strike from Scannell was right up there. We have started to look like a team, each playing for the other, just fantastic to see. Vaughan is now clearly the man, leading our attack. A bit early to say, but it looks like we have a strike force that will but the skids under most teams in our division.

Good to see - but through out the season we will need to be getting goals from all over the team including defenders. Early days but set pieces need a lot of work - delivery and execution....

Very true about set pieces. Thought there was an improvement on palmers corners compared to Cambridge though where his delivery was poor. Wonder if wood may be a better option from the left as his delivery is good

They were both excellent but it was Donaldsons pace and movement thay impressed me the most. The timing and angles of his runs were superb and Oldham simply couldn't cope with it.

It's the first time I've seen either live this year and I suppose, given Donaldsons age, I unfairly had him pinned down as a bit of a battering ram but on Saturday nothing could have been further from the truth.

If we can just sort the central midfield area and keep these two fit we've definitely got a great shot at top 3 this year.

Yes it will be key to City not dropping points and having a successful season - especially at home where teams will put 10 men behind the ball and commit fouls in key areas to prevent us unlocking their defence.

It's not often we have marquee players at Valley Parade actually justifying their past reputation.
