VAR is a complete nonsense as far as I am concerned, and I hope never to see it at a City game. Football is not a game which you can delay whilst the referee checks a tv monitor in my opinion. The above is a perfect example.

I didnt even like Cricket introducing the Umpire Review System.

Never watch Rugby, I understand they have a similar process for certain decisions?, does that seem to work?

The Rugby system is much better than the football one, VAR has a ref miles away watching screens with radio contact to the fourth official who then looks and informs the ref, In Rugby
( and cricket ) the video ref is at the game so is much quicker plus it is only used at a players or refs request not somebody miles away trying to give decisions and referee the game twice

I'm not sure if VAR is something FIFA or whoever have cooked up to be as rubbish and unpopular as possible in a bid to make it go away forever.
Make the fans, players and officials all despise it then say it's been a disaster like we told you it would be. Although knowing the idiots running the game it'll probably be hailed a complete success and we'll be stuck with it as it is

I agree, i think it has been implemented fairly well in rugby.
VAR would be better if it was only used at the referee's request. It just seems ridiculous that an 'off site' official can make restrospective decisions and over rule the referee.

Announced earlier it will be used at the World Cup. I can understand this, a WC Final being decided by a wrong decision would be heartbreaking for those on the receiving end.
