I am not expecting solutions as I don't think there are any, but I need to sound off and have a rant.
Our small allotment site of which I am the chairperson has once again been visited by thieves and vandals, twice this week and the fourth time in 6 months.
Tools have been stolen but the worst thing is the wanton destruction of gates and sheds. Polytunnels have been slashed. It is soul destroying. People put many hours of effort into their plots all for it to be trashed.
We have fences but they climb over via trees in the adjacent park.
Reported to the police, but not expecting anything to happen.
Considering even taller fences but we'd need planning permission and they are very expensive.

Is some sort of CCTV an option? I know it will not stop it but it might help catch or identify those doing it?

We don't have an electricity supply so it would have to be a wildlife type camera but where we put it is problematical, there are many points where they can gain access. Considering it.

Blink cameras run on batteries but you need wifi within distance

There's a word for these idiots that begins with C

We have high fences and gates here at mine in Bristol but have still suffered break-ins and theft of tools and produce (including one night when 3 fruit trees were systematically stripped). Thankfully, so far, there has been little vandalism other than breaking shed doors when they are locked.
Not sure what you an do other than beef up the fencing which is incredibly expensive.

Only joking for the humourless or sensitive souls
