Once the news leaked there was every possibility Oliver could be a Bantam I checked out a one to one interview broadcast on Gill's in the Blood podcast.
It's a really interesting piece and gives you an insight into the struggles of a player embroiled in backroom bust ups and playing away from his family back up in Yorkshire.
If you've got any spare time it's definitely worth a listen.
Glad he's got fixed up nearer home here's hoping we reap the benefits over the coming seasons.
He seem a really nice guy based on his honest answers to the questions asked on the show.

Spoke to my Gills mate and he definitely rates him-suprised he didn’t go to a mid/higher league 1 club

Here y'are Fordy. At least 1 Gills fan agrees with you.
Disappointing to see a good player for us make a sideways move (and I personally don’t expect Bradford to do any better than they’ve done in the past half dozen season with their favourite status). However, he said he wanted to go back up north and stuck to his word, unlike some. I thought he may have been good enough to get a league one move, so is probably lacking a bit of ambition, but he’s got a young family up north and a three year deal, presumably on a decent wage, so good luck to him.

Yer, the three year deal is probably what swayed it for us. Probably the league one offers were for two years.

Apart from Barnsley, he wouldn't get closer to home in League 1?
After 2 years away from his young family that will have been important.

perhaps if they knew what had happened over the last 5 years compared to know then they would realise why there is a such a good vibe about us :) I mean we have gone from signing poor league 2 players to actually recruiting players that really are to good for this level ............. still you never know this time next year we could be still stuck down here :( but there has been a change in the attitude throughout the whole club ........... fans for the first time in years seem to be United unlike the splits created by the owners and the managers over the last 5 years or so

One of the better signings of the Summer, I feel. I know we've been disappointed by players like James Vaughan who signed under almost identical circumstances and others like Eoin Doyle, but I like that we've signed Vadaine based on his style of play rather than taking a punt on his goalscoring record alone.

I'd guess we'll be playing two up top this season?

the thing is with Doyle and Vaughan they where at the club under managers who didn’t no how to use them :( had both been here now they would have thrived under Hughes .......

When Cook had his good seasons at Walsall and Tranmere was he playing off a target man? Can’t decide if they’ll go 4-4-2 or if Oliver is a Cook upgrade in a 4-2-3-1 and Harratt might play wide, with Chappers and Walker in behind?

or because he isn't getting game time because he is shite. Could work either way. Lets hope he is just run of the mill - a reliable hand then we get to keep him!!
