Probably doesn't warrant its own thread, but I couldn't find a topic to put it in - did anyone else spot the "subtle" reference to the new stadium sponsors? Not that it's all that exciting. It may be the case that this is old news and I missed the announcement.

I've also just noticed that it explicitly says that it is the new stadium sponsorship name in the letter, so clearly not intended to be subtle - my bad!

Let's hope the name is appropriate this coming season.
The Lethargy Stadium would have been more fitting last season.

There is a letter from Stefan thanking fans for renewing and mentioning the newly named Stadium "Utilita Energy Stadium".

I'm sure this has been looked into before, didn't Roger Owen say it wasn't feasible at Valley Parade? The cutbacks on the value on energy created by the panels hasn't helped.

    https://www.energy-storage.news/news/uks-first-football-stadium-battery-finds-a-home-at-arsenals-emirates-ground

This is right up my street. Basically they install panels which when not being used charge the battery then when energy is needed which coincides with times of peak tariffs they use the battery thus saving lots of money. The battery can be used for other energy services too. This is more and more prevalent as we install lots more intermittent gen. You need batteries to smooth out the peaks and troughs. Sorry to bore anyone!! valley parade has a massive front print with a fair bit of industry nearby. The DNO's should be interested in this type of thing. What about being able to charge up your electric car whilst parked at one of the clubs sites? using solar panels on the stadium roof? The lack of subsidies is not a stopper as the cost of these has dropped massively so the payback period are the similar to tens of years ago. Right I'll get my coat. did you know that Arsenal use cannabis farm equipment to grow their pitch overnight?

Aswell as the costs involved im sure its been mentioned before that the structure of the main stand makes it unable for use for solar panels. Was it weight they mentioned?

Basically I put a ;) in my original post.

I guess my view is that technology is moving forward all the time, and when the last assessment was undertaken, perhaps the componenets have been superceded by newer lighter units which could be put into place?

The roof panels may not be capable of bearing the weight, however there are significant metal posts and struts. If the units were attached to those, rather than being placed directly on the roof, then I would be surprised if they could not be put into place. I am not a structural engineer or involved in alternative energy installation, but perhaps just perhaps someone on here is? :)
