Is there anyone as dumb as Richard Holden the Conserative Party Chariman?

I mean he has posted a letter from Simon Case this morning claiming that the £2000 was independently costed and he clearly hasn't read the damn thing making him look even more of a fool.

This doesn't support his case like he thinks it does, it just confirms the lie and that the assumptions were provided by Tory Special advisors.

My post is not at all wrong on so many levels, as you put it. I naively voted for Labour in 1997 as I was a very easily-swayed 18 year old, like most kids of that age are. I then lived through the next 13 years of a Labour government, constantly spending our taxes like a man with no arms. Not to mention the catastrophic decision to take our men to war in Iraq & Afghanistan, years and years of billions of taxpayers money down the drain and lives lost, to achieve absolutely f-all now that the Taliban is park in control. Shelling out billions of taxpayers money in foreign aid and benefits to ungrateful scumbags who have never set foot in our great country

You also totally evaded the point I made regarding Bradford council, and why they have failed so miserably

Out of interest, a very quick bit of research shows the 6 worst performing councils all have one common denominator:

    Birmingham Council - Labour
    Nottingham Council - Labour
    Stoke on Trent - Labour
    Bradford - Labour
    Middleborough - Labour
    Cheshire East - labour

But I suppose you will say this is nonsense, inaccurate, and biased/poor journalism from whichever source I got it from

Farage has had cement thrown over today in Barnsley whilst out campaigning.

It's a disgrace that a few loony left wingers have to resort to this because they are running scared of his ever increasing popularity.

Absolute scumbag. I'd have grabbed the guy for the police rather than watching him run off and I have no time for Farage. Thankfully they did get hold of him further down the road.

It's a shame, I worked around Barnsley for about 35 years, good folk, most would agree with the likes of me and Farage but when it came to voting would vote Labour or abstain saying it's a waste of time .. !!

You are simply wrong on the spending claim. Labour did not ‘constantly spend your taxes like a man with no arms’ (whatever that means). The public finances were fine; they were repaying previous Tory debt; public services were operating pretty well and the NHS was the best it’s ever been in its history, with waiting lists virtually eliminated and public satisfaction with it at an all time high. Things definitely took a turn for the worst when the bankers crashed the world economy, but that wasn’t Labour’s doing.

It’s hardly surprising that most of the so-called worst performing councils are Labour held, is it? Labour generally represents most of the poorer areas while the Tories generally represent the richer ones. It’s a bloody sight easier to run a council in an affluent area than a poor one. Especially when, in the case of Bradford, you’ve had your budget cut by £350m. Yes, Labour has run Bradford Council since 2010. But from the moment they took over they’ve had to cope with year on year budget cuts of a much greater magnitude than most Tory run councils.

Yes, I agree about Iraq. Massive blunder. I think Afghanistan was rather different. The Taliban were clearly hosting Al Qaeda training camps where Islamic terrorists were preparing to cause atrocities such as the twin towers and the London bombings. Would you have had us just let them get on with doing that without intervention?

What a stupid and - quite frankly - insulting question

The USA had already made up their minds after the Twin Towers. They were going for them regardless of whether they had us as backup or not. The problem was, Blair was too much of a pussy and too concerned that it would harm his personal future prospects/standing if he didn't do what Bush Jr told him. We went to wars that were nothing to do with us, and in doing so simply made us a target for the Islamist extremists home & abroad. Proof in the pudding, the 7/7 bombings (3 of the 4 suicide bombers from Leeds of all places) and then later the Manchester Arena bombing, not to mention countless planned attacks that have been foiled. All those poor INNOCENT people including young kids. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I sincerely believe these appalling events don't happen if we kept our noses out of someone elses beef

So with that in mind, i'll ask the same question to you - are you glad we DID go to war and make ourselves targets, thus killing all those poor defenceless people minding their own business??

    Works both ways pal

Latest Yougov poll which works on seats shows the Lib Dems as the opposition party

Frig me, if that happens Sunak will go down as the man who killed the Tory Party. (Well finished them off anyhow)

No. That’s bullshit. They have his card marked, apart from a few mouthy cranks, he’s very much seen as the Thatcherite bastard that he is.

That said, Farage knew exactly what he was doing by visiting Barnsley, he knew what kind of reaction he’d get, and some absolute nob cheese obliged. Does my head in.

He's nowhere near to being in the same league as the brilliant Thatcher.

Sadly, we will never see the likes of Thatcher again.

I'm well aware dear Maggie is no longer with us.

Say what you like, but she has been the longest serving Prime Minster in the past 150 years.

The majority of the country clearly thought she did a great job.

If we accept that this is mainly true.

If we're saying that the world crash had nothing to do with Labour (and I would agree with that)

Are we also accepting that the world growth immediately presseding that - and the debt repayments that came from that growth - has nothing to do with Labour either?

Similarly, since Alistair Darling would have followed the same austerity measures as the Conservatives that the cuts up until 2009 were absolutely nothing to do with ideology and everything to do with the situation we were in.

Forget Labour spin. Let's just try be realistic.
