I think you will find that on Twitter and elsewhere on social media that I am 'attacked'. I have no idea who you are but I don't hide behind anonymous identities and am prepared to be accountable for what I say.

I have my reasons for not splashing my name all over social media, something I've had problems with for the best part of 30 years and am currently receiving professional help for. I use the forums for an outlet for these problems, one poster on here who I won't name has been a huge help in my wellbeing. What I will say rwagridng abuse is some need to take a good look at themselves when throwing stones.

I have to laugh at people scoffing over online anonymity. In today's cancel culture where God forbid you post something silly when you're a teenager, that's it you're future is ruined because a few people on social media like to hound you out.

Even sometimes where you may say something controversial but not cross the line into abuse/offense, you're public enemy number one. Our very right of free speech, even on social media is being eradicated so I, quite frankly, don't blame anyone who wishes to remain anonymous.

The individuals concerned enjoy spraying abuse but play the victim card the moment they get a taste of it back. You need only look elsewhere on City related social media to see who I refer to. Lovely people I am sure.

I do, but not for football.

Either way, I don't think someone can be easily accused of attacking somebody else unless they have, whether it's retaliation or not.

Call someone directly or indirectly a 'cretin', and you lose the option to claim self-defence IMO!

LOL. The irony of the comment.

As you know only too well, you and your chums on TCA are precious about your anonymity because it provides the cloak to abuse others and allow yourselves to regress online without the embarrassment of being identified. When lockdown ends by all means introduce yourself at a supporter forum and we can have a frank exchange. You know who I am and that I am prepared to put my name to my words, something that cannot be said for yourself and others.

Twitter can be a good pace to socialise if you navigate through the sea of shite. Problem is, that sea of shite is full of people just using it as a soundboard rather than listening to other peoples views. My only real use of social media is on football forums and believe me this place and TCA are tame compared to most places out there on the web. Your last sentence is very telling and should be heeded by all, especially the ones who think they know and are better than everyone else.

There’s many of reasons people like to remain anonymous online, many of them reasons are very valid. If you feel you are a victim of abuse, there’s plenty of avenues you can go down. Throwing down the anonymous card and crying like a baby is pathetic.

Being anonymous obviously has many disadvantages, like what you mentioned, and not least, trolling. But, on balance, I think the option of anonymity should absolutely remain on any platform, of course it should.

TCA is irreverent at times but hardly abusive for goodness sake.

    They sound thoroughly awful.
You should name them so I can preemptively block them.

Abuse is a very strong word. And very little of what happens online is truly anonymous, if people feel strongly about anything they've been subjected to.

I post on TCA as well as here. I've never abused anyone and wouldnt try to belittle anyone either. I would imagine that the same goes for as many people on that site as goes for here. No one persons opinion carries more weight than another, whether posting under an alias or not.

I wouldnt go near twitter though. It's a toxic, poisonous environment that in my opinion does real harm to people.

Twitter can very quickly become a pile on when someone makes a comment, valid or not, and a popular account either replies in a hurtful way or endorses a response a nasty manner. It can be very funny and informative at times though.

I am yet to be convinced otherwise that online is preferable to face to face dialogue and with regards matters BCAFC believe that a supporter forum is long overdue. It might actually be healthier for people not to hide behind the aliases and to know who it is you are talking to.

With respect I really don't think that I am crying like a baby nor hiding, I was making observations about social media and have nothing else to add to the discussion.

From what I see, its mainly a platform for people to adopt a sense of self importance and intolerance towards alternative viewpoints.

I think part of the anonymous thing is when people have shared logon details and it is then hard to find out which of many people actually posted. One example was the Work and Pensions(?) twitter account that an employee posted from. Not sure if they found out who it was but at the time it could have been one of many that had the log on details.

Anonymity? There’s pictures of Hoochy with his arse hanging out - hardly anonymous.
