That’s on a par with the Liverpool rap!

Ive always wondered why one didnt develop in honour of the 56, sort of a match day tradition to sing. I began watching city in 93 so I have no way of knowing but obviously we know one developed at Liverpool. Be interesting to hear peoples thoughts

Is Rupp happy to continue on his own or looking for investors?

Does the club feel the current cost of season tickets will be enough to bring quality players in and push on beyond league 2, then 1?

Because most City fans prefer to remember the 56 through a solemn silence rather than a tacky chant

As Storck says, the remembrance of the fire victims is much better done in a dignified manner, not by singing songs about them.

Also, this latter-day objectification of the deceased individuals as 'The 56', whilst it may be well meant, is distasteful to many of us who were there on that day. Not only does it reduce the individuals to a glib-sounding collective, it also fails to take account of those who were injured but not killed, those psychologically scarred by witnessing the events and the many relatives and friends who lost loved ones. The impact of the fire went far beyond those who perished on that sad day.

At least he/she put their view in a calm collective manner clearly spelling out how they see the suggestion and the reasons why.
Maybe I am an old ignoramus but what does WUM mean?

Certainly not a wind up merchant. Many songs have many different meanings certainly not always for entertainment. The suggestion that this in some way disrespecting people when the intention is clearly to never forget. I respect that people dont like the idea. We needn't discuss it further, yet the suggestion im trying to wind people up is far fetched and i would suggest people calm down a tad.

Why does remembrance have to be tacky or a chant?

I appreciate this reply thanks for enlightening me. As i said i was completely in the dark regarding peoples take on this. No offence intended which some people seem to be eager to spot signs of.

Thank you all for your responses.

I have noted these down and will do my best to get these points raised in the meeting tonight.

As there has been such a large volume of responses, I cannot guarantee that I will be able to cover everything listed, but I will do my best

I wasn't offended by it, more amused than anything. I think the stick you feel you were getting was more down the idea being even less down the ladder than a non starter in City fans eyes. Any remembrance has always been a low key affair which is a rarity these days where anything tied to a remembrance turns into a media circus frenzy.

No problem.Certainly no offence taken by me. Glad I was able to explain it for you.

I think the tone changed around the time of the Capital One Cup Final, when the 'Remember the 56' flag and the applauding on 56 minutes appeared, promoted by younger fans who weren't around at the time of the fire. I'm sure that this was well intentioned, but it didn't sit well with most of those who were there and were used to a quieter, more dignified form of remembrance.

You admit that you have no connection to the fire apart from being a supporter a few years later. Why do YOU want to remember it? Why do YOU want a chant or song to join in with?

    I think I know, I've left a clue or 2.
