Transfers (also ambition/investment/ground & lots more.....)

Surely a player such as vaughan who is already under contract wouldn’t count towards a salary cap? We should be using that as an advantage. But seems we are cost cutting as Rupp will only fund the bare minimum

 

I don’t think we would get a replacement. McCall seems to like the one striker If his time here before is anything to go by. We’ve got Donaldson Novak and Guthrie, plus I think one of the youth lads given a pro deal can play up front. Prepare yourself for a long season

 

Elliot Watt is just one of hundreds of players up and down the country. I know nothing about him apart from he played 12 games for Carlisle and hes 20 years old. I literally couldn't care a less if he signed or not. We need better.

Wolves obviously rated him to give him 2 year contract last season. Apparently he impressed whilst on loan at Carlisle, and McCall has been tracking him, 'watts'not to like?

 

Wolves will have tied him down for financial reasons. Hes 20... If he was going to be a top half premier league player then he wouldn't be being farmed out to Carlisle and Bradford.
Ive seen Plymouth have bid 200k for Hardie from Blackpool.. Plymouth Argyle showing more ambition than us.. Great.

 

Good for Plymouth. Look what happened the last time we spent £200k on a player, Shay McCartan, massive waste of money. Splashing the cash doesn't necessarily mean you are getting a better player than a loan player, or an out of contract player. By the way, Plymouth are in a higher league than us anyhow, so they are not even rivals to compare with

 

As far as Im aware , he wouldn't count under the rules of the Salary Cap as he is already under contract with us.
It appears to be a minefield though , so quite happy to be corrrected

 

People are panicking before they even know who or how many players we are going to sign. I can remember going into the 2016-2017 season with low expectations following a relatively uninspiring transfer window. Romain Vincelot and Josh Cullen seemed to be our best signings on paper, people were rolling their eyes when we signed Colin Doyle for £1 and there was a lot of uncertainty over whether Dieng and Knight-Percival would be decent acquisitions. Then there was Sattelmaier and Vincent Rabiega...

 

Don't know what planet you are currently inhabiting but do you honestly think if he was a 'top half Premier player' he would be in our target bracket?! Club cant win with some fans, this could be the type of hungry young player many were demanding when Billy Clarke resigned but apparently not in your case

 

McCartan wasn't given a fair chance imo. He had very good spells at Accrington and then on loan at Lincoln where he helped them get promoted. When he joined us he was competing with Wyke, Jones and Poleon and wasn't played in his favourite role.
How many managers did he play under? McCall, Gayson, Abbott, Collins, Hopkin and Bowyer.. Have i missed any? Our recruitment has been negligent and doesn't appear to be improving this window.

Club seem to be working under a self imposed one I think that’s the worry with fans.

Salford now signed Jason Lowe. Another good signing I’d say on good money. Really going for it again.

A fair chance?. You have just pointed out yourself that he played under 6 managers, and he failed to impress any of them.

I would like to wager that Watt will prove to be the better signing of the two, assuming he is coming here

Impressive. Signed on a 3 year deal as well. That one signing is better than all our 3.

Salford are leaving us behind already. Signing Billy Caravan Clarke and DHM won't get us far if Salford, Mansfield continue as they are doing in the transfer market.

 

Flaw in that is Guthrie ain’t no striker bro.

The thought of Guthrie, Clarke, Donaldson and Novak - Makes me worry a lot.

That is a shocking forward line up of options. Awful.
