The question was about childrens safety at school. Not education or civil liberty.

As I said, I couldn't find anything he said specifically about BCAFC fans being a danger to the safety of students at Woodhouse Grove.
Considering he died over 100 years before BCAFC was founded I think we can forgive him for this omission.

If the school/City are concerned about members of the public straying onto land owned by the school, then they need to mark the boundary line, with any public right of way.

This could be by the use of the pitch marking system, whereby they mark out the boundary and have some signage clarifying that ‘crossing the line’ is trespassing and could lead to the police being called (goodness knows the Police must have more pressing things to attend to).

If this doesn’t work then they could erect a permanent fence (like that which surrounds the One in a Million school).

If they are still not satisfied, than a 2.5 metre solid wooden fence which prevents any view of the land, would seem to be the answer.

Alternatively they could just put a polite message out and hope that people can abide by it without the need for fences etc

Given that this seems to be an ‘ongoing problem’ from the School and City’s perspective, then signage would certainly assist. However if there are areas which are a public right of way and they abut the schools private land, then something which demarcates the boundary would assist. You know I have a wall and railings which separates my property from the public road, it helps people to understand what is public land and that which is private!

Reading the announcement it says that you are not allowed past the school gates, so I’m presuming there is already a gate there that people are actually going through

When you turn in off the main road, parking on the left and parking to the right is ok. The entrance to the school is between the two, once through the gate you'r on school land. This is the drive up to the school and either side of this drive pupils are always taking part in sports etc. So it's a bit like people wondering around school playgrounds when the pupils are out, it's never bee'n an issue till we turned up. Just read the signs and comply.

The drive way on the left is the one you are prohibited to use and there is a sign on the gate telling people it is private land, I've never had a problem watching from the drive on the right behind the fence/dug outs, and if you want to go to the training pitches around the back and under the railway bridge stick to the public pathway that goes along the River Aire.

How about a fenced area and a wall that seperates the school grounds to the cricket/football pitches?? Would that help?

It's pretty simple really isn't it - don't go on the school grounds. Watch from the car park near the main road but don't go down the driveway to the school to try watch them train on the 3/4g pitches.

It's like any other school anywhere - it's purely for the safety of the kids.

City have trained down there for many years I have watched training sessions myself from the car park beside the main road, but why has people watching City train suddenly become an issue with.

It is a repeated message from a number of years ago. It will be so that the school can show they are doing their bit about safeguarding for when they get inspected

Maybe society in general @Wesser@Wesser, my daughter got a text from my granddaughters school saying men had been seen hanging around the school make your children swear, I bring one of my granddaughters friends home 3 times a week as her mother cant get up for her, sad indictment of where we are as a society.

Ah well, in the good old US of A, that is a concept only given lipservice, and a concept that the NR whotsit thinks is an attempt to circumvent the 2nd amendment. That being said, my school has 2 full time armed officers.
