    That's horrific. Sounds like a combination of bad fan behaviour and bad police overreaction. Also seems like the poor sods who died were the ones at the back trying to escape the tear gas, rather than the idiots who started the trouble.

    Tear gas should never be used in football stadia. You can't use that sort of crowd control measure in a confined space, it will always cause panic. Manslaughter charges should be brought against whoever ordered it to be used.

    Whilst I probably agree with the sentiment, how would you suggest they deal with thousands of fans invading the pitch, overturning and setting alight police vehicles?

    I aren't saying this glibly either, I just feel its a very difficult situation with not many (if any) good options and it's all too easy to blame the authorities when they clearly didn't instigate the original crowd disorder.

    Sell 42,000 tickets for a ground with a 38,000 capacity and then are surprised that they have major issues.
