They probably wonder where football is too - if that's what you want to keep this on track? So we're not allowed to complain about the lack of veg now there's a war on. Anything else we're not allowed to talk about for fear of having "first world problems"? This is general chat, but should it be shut down? Along with "What are you watching" (no tvs probably in Mariupol") "The countdown thread" (could be taken as a threatening play on words) and so on and so on.
For Gods sake. People are appalled with what's going on in Ukraine, but they are also trying to go about their normal lives and keep their spirits up. If that includes complaining about the lack of tomatoes in Asda, then it doesn't bother me in the slightest, and nor should it you.

What's wrong with a thread about tomatoes or the lack of? Beats the endless repetitive stuff about player retention and useless leadership, takeover nonsense and mythical new new stadium claptrap. I want to know how that curry turned out

Sorry for taking the comment the wrong way. Probably the Ukranians in Mariupol don't really give the location of tomatoes much thought. Definitely not a laughing matter for them. Hope they pull through.

Slow news day everyday for me at the moment in the bar. It's no longer in business :( (Silver lining: I now have time to search around the supermarkets for green peppers).

Green peppers are what I struggle to find here in Tallinn. The only supermarket I could find them in, were selling at 9,20€ a kg! Worked out at 3€ a pepper! We’ve just had Lidl open a chain of stores here, so I hope it starts a price war. Haven’t been yet, because on the opening week, there were 1.5h queues to get in! I kid you not.

Maybe as some have said move it to the countdown thread.

There is no trade barrier between the EU and the UK we have a free trade agreement with them, So far the Brexit fearmongers are having to eat their words, Covid and travel restrictions plus the war in Ukraine are the main drivers, The article you quote is interesting but flawed written by a person with anti Brexit views, If Brexit is the cause of inflation why is it worldwide and even higher in the USA where it is causing huge problems and the same shortages

Its not higher in the US the article shows charts which show we are the highest. And seriously, what a load of russian you are speaking, true misinformation, I trade every day with the EU and I can guarantee trade barriers have been imposed. The forms I have to fill to send an item to the EU are a trade barrier which didnt exist before. The stop gap in the Irish sea FFS, why would boris want to invoke article 16 if it wasnt a barrier.

Its funny that you call it a free trade agreement, paroting the words of a proven liar. We do not have a free trade agreement.

The UK just had to extend the period where we have no checks on goods coming into the UK. In order for us to be able to eat and not have shortages. Meanwhile we have trade barriers imposed on us. Everything is checked going into the EU. So our european competitors still have the UK market free to sell into but our government pulled us out of the EU meaning our businesses have barriers. In essence your precious government gave a trade boost to our competition and hindered our own people. That is a fact my friend. Denial is just that, denial.

The more you bleat on about brexit being good, the more you cost your fellow country men and women. Cost us actual money. Because brexit is a disaster and its only going to get worse. Will the pandemic be to blame in 4 years time? I know you will find some excuse, bbut the moderates will stick a finger up to it. And you will be left waving your blue passport.

Your complete post is just BoLLux We have free trade agreement and tariff free trade agreement with the EU, What we do have is customs forms because we are not in the customs area, The inflation rate in the USA is 8,5% where in the UK it is much lower at 6.2%
The custom checks have been suspended for a year to save the estimated £1million pounds for the government in a time of belt tightening,
You are wrong about Brexit and cannot bear that you were wrong like forecasting no air travel and further doom etc and in fact we are doing rather well and in time will get better, We will not be the last to leave a thoroughly corrupt organisation

So all the businesses complaining about massively increased paperwork etc are just making it up, are they?
The customs checks have been suspended, for the fourth time, because the government knows there would be chaos and increased prices on foreign imports, particularly food. They are wimping out of the consequences of their own decisions. So, instead of 'taking back control' we are effectively allowing the EU to regulate our imports.
