To be fair to our Director of Communications he must have a lot on, what with needing to learn what the CEO role will entail along with his day job.

 

Wasn't he a board member when we finished second to Sunderland and still part of the board during our two seasons in the Premier, not sure he had a lot of input with Richmond CEO or whatever his position was at the time.

 

Rupp wants his money back for what he paid for the club
That won't happen untill we climb the pyramid

Without a plan of action and a complete change of ownership soon this club will next season be in the conference

Ashton Bantam, you make a really good point. The players are being allowed to hide off the pitch as well as on it. Ryan Sparkes should be working overtime at getting them to communicate with us regularly through social media, give us a glimpse into who they are - regular 'ten things about me' type features on You Tube, ifollow etc. Chatty pieces about worst dressed, biggest music fans in the dressing room - bloody hell, anything to help us connect with the players. It's important now more than ever. We can't go to VP on match days, we have zilch connection with the squad. It may seem like a slight demand, given the clearly deep and worrying problems we fundamentally have as a club, but at least it might make fans feel like y'all give a shit about us.

 

This is exactly my thinking. Little fluff pieces which don't take long to put together, but allow us to learn the players' characters and get to know them. Give us a reason to support them, give us something to buy into. At best, it allows fans to connect with the players, at worst it allows fans to laugh at something. Win win either way really. And something I'm sure a media intern or entry level worker could put together with relative ease on a regular basis.

I think its something that should be done at all times, but given the lack of fans in grounds and restrictions currently its more important than ever now. It frustrates me that the club seem so far behind the curve on little things like this. All the small things build up and equal 'a club'.

 

I thought I would have a go at this on behalf of the players...........but I'm struggling to find 10 things to say about the whole team never mind 1 player.

My daughter was doing exactly this kind of work very successfully as a media intern for arts and sports bodies FIVE years ago! We are such a dinosaur club in so many ways. More afraid of social media than embracing and properly using it to our advantage. Rubbish at communication and thus, as ever, totally taking our fan base for granted. Covid has changed a lot of things and I don't think for a moment the powers that be at VP even begin to understand that swathes of fans around the land have not only got used to not watching live football, they've found many other more meaningful things to do and spend their money on. It's going to be a totally new landscape when fans can go back to watch football - and the club is naive if they think 8,9 or 10,000 plus fans are going to come back to buy season tickets no matter how cheap. Apart from anything else, the McCall honeymoon is well and truly over and that won't help em either. We need upskilling, upscaling and becoming a proper professional outfit in every single bloody way!
