Thierry Nevers signs on loan CONFIRMED

It also depends what they have been asked to do.

Under previous managers, Tyreik would have been asked to dig in and track back.

Under Hughes, the front three tend to have the freedom of the city.

There's a real possibility that if Nevers (or whoever plays up front/on the wing) is allowed to just attack, he performs better than he has done previously for other teams.

That was certainly the case with Wright.

For Tyreik's sake, I hope Plymouth don't slap the shackles on - but they're winning, so you can't imagine they will.

In fairness the Wright success (getit? ) has meant that we are now more tolerant of new signings and seem less likely to castigate them before we've seen them.

I suppose after years of largely terrible signings, I suppose you could understand how some became cynical.

 

I've not seen Plymouth, but by all accounts they play the best footie in the division.

Their success is something that we could easily follow, remember it's less than 3 years ago, that we were impressively beating them.

i.e. you can be in the doldrums for years and suddenly get a new lease of life.

Wright seems to have a good work ethic. Good luck to the lad. I'm just pleased to be able to have seen a loanee not far from the Pickford, Burke and Cullen class.

It's doubtful that MH would want to pitch him straight in without at least one trading session with the squad. I reckon we'll see Abo Eisa starting in the Wright slot tonight, assuming the game goes ahead.

 

Reserving judgement. Instinct is that I'm unenthused and worried we're weaker with Nevers replacing Wright, but lets see. Wright surpassed expectations in terms of feedback from previous loan spells, so hopefully this lad does the same.

From the videos on Twitter he has been training with City at least since yesterday, unless Rawdon Meadows is in its own weather system today: sunny and not raining!

 

I think you're right in Wright exceeding expectations. I'd also venture that the expectations we have on Nevers are probably about the same level to where we were with Wright when he came in.

It's hard to judge on a signing by signing basis but I reckon we'll end January with a stronger first team (as long as Walker stays fit anyway) with a couple of outgoings and incomings
