    So can these idiots please go back to hording toilet rolls.

    Cars backing out onto the road queuing out of Morrisons, Sainsburys and Asda.

    Unless you are off to Crawley tomorrow you don't need a car full + 5 Jerry cans.

    No, but there is a distribution problem.

    Although the government is about to allow foreign lorry drivers short-term visas to work here. Hopefully they will do the same for other industries such as the care sector.

    I'm in Cornwall at the moment. Due to move on to Devon, then Dorset, then Sussex, then London, over the next week. I've got accommodation bookings in advance for these places. I'm genuinely concerned that I'm going to be stuck without fuel and unable to move around due to these panic buyers.

    Ironically passed a huge queue of cars waiting to get in to Morrisons backing up and blocking the main road, Why Ironic? one of those on the main road waiting to get in was a Morrisons fuel tanker trying to get in to unload!!

    the problem is self made by the industry. They knew Brexit was coming but did nothing to prepare.

    100k vacancies apparently. But only 20k foreign drivers left and 40k cancelled tests. Even if every one of the 40k had passed first time and the foreigners were still here that is still 40k vacancies

    I saw someone on twitter saying how he got petrol because of the shortage of drivers.

    Yes there is a shortage of drivers but the fuel supply as it stands is fine. The issue occurs when people decide they need to queue 40 deep at a petrol station all day. Suddenly 3 days supply is taken in 1 day, and the next tanker isn't booked till Monday because that's when the station expected to run out.

    Now these morons have emptied the station today by having 3 days of sales in 1 day and issue that didn't exist now exists.

    The T&A have been stirring the pot today adding to the panic.

    I'm glad I have nowhere to go this weekend because these idiots would have pissed me off if I had planned to go to Crawley, because I could not travel because the risk of a 400mile round trip included a petrol stop of which like has been mentioned in this thread is now in serious doubt due to morons.

    As I said on the other thread it's been an issue that's been in the works for decades. All of Europe has seen year on year drops in HGV drivers. It's become a job people are just less and less eager to do these days so as people age out of the job its hard to replace them. It's not been helped by the rise of online shopping and things like Uber and food delivery services. People who would like driving jobs often find the more sociable hours of these and the easier/cheaper ability to get into it better for them. We have just seen a combination of Covid and Brexit accelerate the problem
