It could have been, if the Fat Controller hadn't stuck his oar in and had let Paul Jewell get on with consolidating our PL position in the second season.

To be fair, there were more reasons than BFG sticking his oar in to Jewell leaving. Some of which, allegedly, were to do with Jewell not knowing how to keep his kock in his flies

Beat me to it Steve you have to wonder if he had not sacked Jimmy what could have been, I have no doubts the likes of Carbone or Collymore would not have been seen in Claret & Amber.

Seems to be a standard reply from some, I'd suggest the facilities have been improved on what they were during the Premier days "two decades ago", the pitch's are as good as Valley Parade including the latest 5g all weather pitch, a gym, swimming pool which we didn't have back in the Premier days, Physio room, area's where the team can eat together etc.
What would your alternative be given Rupp isn't going to build our own training facilities any time soon so you guys who don't live in the past need to give your heads a shake as Mr Ford would say.

Aye, imagine the horror of seeing talented players such as Carbone and Collymore wear the Claret and Amber.

Thank feck we're no longer having to watch that.

Imagine if he had been allowed to bring in young talented players as he wanted to instead the future of the club might have been brighter

Carbone was great for us - Collymore was awful.

    Completely agree Kevin.

Football, for me anyway, is all about memories and those little moments when you lose yourself for a minute but remember it forever.

That's why I back people like BFG and in this case Collymore because without these moments and memories football literally has no meaning.

Yes absolutely Dave, one moment that’s all it takes. Richmond brought many of them I thought I’d never see, especially when we were propping up the FL playing in front of literally hundreds and applying for re entering DiV 4 what seemed like season after season.

Witnessed probably close to a 1000 games home and away, many that always linger, some not necessarily for the right reasons!

It's fair to say we are lucky, to have lived through the best and worst days of our clubs history. Too many memories there to be sniffed at. Couldn't possibly imagine what it's like to be approaching 60 and he a Rochdale or Mansfield fan.

I disagree. He had that great game against Leeds but then I seem to remember he was playing with a dental abscess, or somesuch, and went off the boil a bit. He was average in those games, not terrible. He only played eight games and was released far too early as BFG and Jeffries panicked and started offloading players to reduce the wage bill. Collymore was a class act and would have done a decent job for us if he'd been given the time to do so.

Around that time BGF called a fans forum and sold the idea of the 25 year season ticket, which was all the money recieved from the 25 yearers would go to Jeffries player war chest, that went well.

Didnt it just. Mugs like me (and you) bought it hook line & sinker. I remember thinking at the time, what's to lose, we'll never go bust with BFG at the helm. We couldnt have been more wrong.
