Anyone else having Christmas issues to add our other problems. I am accused of being a miserable old git and at this time of the year called Grinch. Like maybe a lot of guys on here I like a traditional Christmas and a football match Boxing Day. The ladies in my family are all ready making changes. I like a traditional Christmas pudding a Tesco finist would be ok, but no they have got a Prosecco Xmas pud with clementines . Anyone else having problems not sure what Fordy117 gets up to ? . But you Bronco I am sure will rule the roost

Mince pies and Christmas pudding is the food of Satan.

I like a turkey Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, with proper gravy, and some lovely sprouts. Don’t be slinging Star anise in the gravy to be different, it’s disgusting. Also, don’t be putting some sort of fruity jam on it either, it’s doesn’t go, and it’s weird.

    Trifle for afters.

Admit to being a mince pie fan, though can't be doing with any of the daft variations "luxury" variation etc.
Not a fan of sprouts or parsnips, but can understand the attraction if cooked simply. Hate the messing about with food, carrots cooked in orange juice, broccoli with flaked almonds etc, and the insistence of adding things to cheese like apricots or cranberries.

kids were howling the other day at school. One of them was getting something out of my desk and found my "Bah Humbug" Christmas hat.
As for food, yep, a roast turkey, simple veg and gravy. Sprouts are not often eaten round these parts but have some growing out back. The summer murders them but somehow around November they start to recover and thrive, should have some grape sized ones for the dinner.. Can't get chipolatas wrapped in bacon here or Paxo. Sadly, most of the Wensleydale here comes with cranberries or something crap in it. Still got a Morrisons Christmas pud from last year but no brandy or rum sauce. (When did they stop doing the packets of Brandy or Rum sauce mix?). The sauce these days is apparently only sold in liquid form and not available when I am in UK (October).
Finally, last week, step-daughter announced that due to her hubby being sent to Syria (yes, really) she was going to "do Santa" this coming weekend. This means I get an American version of a Christmas dinner. Will report back on what exactly it entails.
    Merry Christmas my arse!

    I hate christmas.

i'd like it to be cancelled. I'd not bother celebrating it if i thought my mother would let me get away with it.

i do like mince pies though.

Stayed at a PremierInn near Steeton and they served breakfast yorkshires with bacon and suasgae in the mixture, with breakfast gravy which was a beefy tomatoey concoction. It worked. i felt very northern eating that!!

If we were eating at home we would have a traditional Christmas Dinner and has to have Yorkshires, then after a few beers and nap, then tea cakes from the local bakers best butter roast beef and pickled onions, followed by Apple pie and custard.
Last year we went to the Tyke up Thornton Road what a good spread that was and no washing up after which is usually the mens task after the ladies have cooked the meal.
