It’s basically Premier League standard from 20 years ago. We’re an eternity behind.

weirdly though our income from season tickets is probably about the same.

last season they averaged 11k, lowest 8,800 so probably about 8k ST at £250 on average. That would equate to 13.5k at £150

Why should any of this surprise anybody? There is a huge gulf between the finances of the Championship and Div 1. It's helped in a small way by the extra revenues Championship clubs receive from the Sky and EFL TV deals (about £6m) but most Championship clubs have to be financially supported by their owners. Dean Hoyle for example subsidised Town to the tune of nearly £60mill whilst they were in the Championship. Derby's owners have just bought back Pride Park for £80m from the club to stop it breaching FFP rules.

Look at this table of wages paid for the clubs who were in the Championship last season. There are some eye watering numbers in there. And we're scraping along with a playing budget of around £2.7mill this season. It shows what we'll be up against if we have any genuine intentions of ever becoming a Championship club. And that's even if our ST prices can rise to a reasonable level without a fall-off in spectator numbers.
