There is nothing in the loan agreement to suggest that. The agreement did provide for a second charge on the club's assets in the event of default but given that a bank already held a primary charge on the assets, it was virtually worthless

Maybe the conversation went like this

ML - I’ll loan the cash but I want 15%
    JR - how about 5%
ML - not enough, how about 9% and I’ll tell everyone you wanted nothing so you look good?

Perhaps you can confirm that Lawn offered the loan interest free but it was Rhodes family that insisted on a commercial rate of interest on the loan?

The rate of interest from a bank if they could even get one would have been punitive, Hence Lawn stepping in

I don’t think they should provide full accounts, myself. They are meeting the legal minimum requirement by filing abbrev accounts and I don’t think people (fans) deserve or need to know every in and out, personally.

I've no idea but I find it unlikely. The interest charge and the payments arrangements are stated quite specifically and clearly and at length in the documents. It's a variable rate based on the prevailing bank rate. I doubt the club would have gone to such lengths if the interest rate was being forced on ML (strictly speaking on ML's deceased wife).

When Keiran Maguire (a well respected academic in football finance) produced a comprehensive report on the finances of EFL clubs, he pointedly remarked that our club was only one of two clubs in the lower leagues which doesn't publish full accounts, above the bare minimum. He couldn't understand it. The other club was one in the north west and believed to be Bury. There is no reason whatsoever to not publish full accounts in the spirit of transparency and openness since the club already prepares them for their own purposes and to meet EFL's requirements.

The info from WOAP suggests the directors loan remained outstanding at the end of 19/20. I know what my guess is as to where the money has gone. You may have a different guess

Completely agree 100%. £2m injection into the transfer budget would transform this club, there is absolutely no reason why Rupp shouldn't do that. Saying he doesn't have to if he doesn't want to is accepting the slow death of Bradford City. If there were any serious buyers for the club out there, Rupp would snap their hands off but unfortunately, there aren't any with the financial backing required to lift the club beyond its current stature. It's interesting that MacAnthony said recently if he were to buy City, he'd expect to be paying around £10m, plus he would immediately sink £2m into the transfer budget to get us out of this league. So the last thing we need is some new tin pot owner with hardly any money. If Rupp really does want to make up for his previous mistakes, his cheapest option is to invest properly in us and sink some cash in quickly.

I don’t think they are doing anything wrong. We’re a limited company, not PLC, so not doing anything wrong.

as fans we have no ownership in the club and its perfectly acceptable for financial figures to stay in the boardroom only IMO.

we should just turn up, whinge in the pub and on forums when things go badly, but I don’t think we deserve the right to know everything just for buying a £250 season ticket - irrespective if whether the other clubs publish full accounts or not.

Sorry to hear this Wetherby. You've always tried to be scrupulously honest about what you can and can't say and given us a genuine insight into how our club is run. But I totally understand your decision. You won't miss the attack dogs I'm sure.

If he cannot cope with the very mild attack dogs on here then god knows how he coped with board meetings as a director of companies which can be close to blood letting at times, Getting bawled out by a Chairman or CEO when things go wrong can be brutal

News on the Street is that some WUM started a thread that wipped all the fish into a frenzy. This then started a lot of comments by Know Nowt’s claiming to know, they know how the inner workings of the club work. The Know Nowt’s know nowt and cannot back up their claims with any substantial evidence.
I declare this thread a waste of time.:OO:

The best post on this subject it is what I have been saying for ages. There are potential buyers out there and at some stage the club will be sold but history shows that it will be run on exactly the same financial lines.

I know from experience that being in a board room or at a high level business meeting and savaged or bawled out is a whole different world from being slagged off online. The difference is that most of the people in the meeting have a high level of understanding of what the issue is you're talking about. And that's fine - you harden your shell. Online is way different. Wetherby has been abused, rudely attacked and sneered at by a lot of posters who know feck all about what it involves to run a business, or a football club. And their nastily addressed ignorance must drive him crazy. I'm not including you in this Trevor because I don't know your background and would not want to insult you, but there are so many on here who presume and assume and give total knee jerk reactions without any grasp of the facts or bothering to get themselves some well researched background knowledge. And that's your fake news culture folks.

This poster is claiming that others on this thread are 'WUMs' and 'Know Nowts' with nothing to substantiate it. I called this poster a 'Know Nowt' and my post got removed.
