I genuinely hope it works out for Crawley, I don't think that wagmi are malicious and their aims of a community/fan focussed club are laudable and I'm a firm believer that wholesale fan ownership of clubs would be beneficial to football in the long term. However, I don't have FOMO and I'm far more comfortable watching the experiment take place in Sussex than BD8 because I think that the chances of success are much smaller than the chance of failure.
My prediction is that they'll manage a year or two of having loads of money and quite possibly buy their way out of L2 and maybe an outside chance of sneaking out of L1 but they're not outspending the big clubs in L1 let alone competing with Champ clubs and outspending everyone else at the core of how they plan to succeed so eventually the wheels will come off and it'll be grim. If I were a CTFC fan, my 5 year aspiration right now would be to enjoy the present and then hope that I still have a club and not be in the conference in 2027, anything else would be a bonus.
As for City and NFT's? I'm not sure, for me it's is that sort of moral grey area like crypto, betting, fossil fuels etc but I'm mostly ambivalent, as long as the club had thought properly about the pros and cons I don't think I'd be too bothered if we decided yes or no.

Now maybe this ol' lad has fallen for a silly joke I don't honestly know, but the City site did seem to be genuine.
Personally I'm not too sure if Mr. Malik has the necessary funds to run the club?
We will see!! -

The Gov wanted the Tory MP to get re-elected……so what a better way of using levelling up funding perhaps?
In the old days they called such use of taxpayers money , corruption.?
Sound familiar except we wouldn’t get more than a few quid of levelling up funding ?
That’s my take. -

I remember looking when they missed out on L1 promotion a few years back and occasionally pop onto the forums or twitter tags to see what fans say about the ownership. To be honest, the fans every time I've looked over the last 3 or 4 seasons have never been fully glowing about DMac. A good chunk of the fans wanted a change of the transfer policy when they were promoted and there was noise created saying that model will never keep a team up in the champ because the gulf in class is too much for their experienced players like Thompson, Beevers, Clarke-Harris etc and all were proven right in the end.
The fans wanted a proper head of recruitment, or someone with experience of building a side at this level but DMac stuck to his guns of buying young and hoping for the best. To be fair, some areas of their fanbase even when they were promoted wanted the other partners to buy out DMac and try a new approach, DMac said so himself about 6-8 weeks back on his podcast, and he said he would always offer his stake if enough want him out.
At the end of the day, he is a salesman who in the summer is incredibly positive about his business done. He sells a vision every summer and other clubs fans love the honesty approach and the optimism, as it's better than silence that most clubs show every summer. Outside fans here the noise and are amazed at the business when a player goes for 20 million, but if you scratch under the surface a little, for every Toney there are 5 or 6 Luke James types that they blow money on and release within 2 or 3 seasons, in multiple areas of the squad. Looking at their business this year, none of the lads really look to have been worth it, at you can always say they buy young and need time, but that wont keep you up and there's no guarantee L1 is going to be easy.
Not knocking his business model, there are some great benefits for a small club with it and his balls he talks with to be so confident in his approach and honest really will bring a lot of fans onside, but it's always worth remembering he is owner, chief scout, head of recruitment and that squad is built by the owner, not a manager or even a backroom recruit expert. -

As a club it is blatantly obvious that we are trying to stay within the salary cap for league 2 clubs. 55% of turn over on your playing budget. Obviously the more you earn, the bigger that budget is. Our reported wage bill of £2.7 million, is ample for this division. Its just been very badly spent the past few seasons. Did we not get relegated from league one with a £4 million wage bill that season of Edin madness.
it's a shame clubs don't get points deducted the following season for breaking the rules, say 5 points for every £100,000
they overspend. It would make clubs like Salford think twice about having one of the largest budgets on some of the smallest crowds. Although they would try and register the players as non dom, or something like that to try and get round it. -
