Sounds like just a reflection on the Barnsley bid and stating the obvious if any cannot be refused offers come in.

And he’s not forcing the issue. What is not to like about the lad? I took it to mean either party can enforce the extra 12 months on top of his 12 months remaining?

Ah didn’t know there was that option too.

ill be gutted if he goes. I dont think even £500k will replace him as a player and as a character around the club. He gets it, what this club is about. Not many do. Can’t remember a player get so involved off the field since Billy Clarke, who was another top bloke.

I wonder what the fee is, that city value him at. If he goes I hope its not at the last minute.

He loves it at city, I'm sure the club know what a negative message it will send out if he goes, plus if he did and we got someone new who was crap then that would be a great PR move. Not always about the money

After hearing the piece I feel more assured there only seems to be Barnsley making an offer and they have moved on

Im not convinced he goes. Player isnt forcing the move but like 99% of players - they have a price. If selling club, buying club and player happy then it may happen.

As long as we are compensated then no issues from me. £500k, with bonuses and a decent selling on fee would be enough imo.

Seems to be a very slow couple of weeks in League Two?

Probably all the clubs now are waiting on loans, or last minute deals.

I think we're looking pretty good meself.

I'd expect 2-3 loans to come in, possibly hoping to ditch a couple of players. Wingers/wing backs is the obvious area for attention with a couple of specialist wide players coming in?

Our loans have been a little bit hit and miss, so probably only expecting 1 to impact the first team.

    And @Idlebantam@Idlebantam

Hughes stated in an interview just after the getafe game that Lewis isnt leaving this window. The “club had a deadline for suitable offers and it passed.”

we are at a point now where letting him leave is poor business regardless of the sum. We would be running around trying to find a replacement ‘keeper.

Not sure that is the case. It has to be right for Bradford City he said. We have put a line down and said we don’t have time to recruit another goalkeeper so my guess is he is with us till the window opens again.

I wish i shared your confidence, i think we are still a bit short and I currently see us as hovering around the play offs at best. In my eyes the signings are a bit of a mixed bunch and potentially our key one (Mcdonald) is probably not going to even play before the season starts. So much is down to how Hughes sets us up and we can only hope the pissing around at the back is modified.
I know there is still time for useful additions but I don't think at this stage we have improved sufficiently - time will tell.

I think we've kept him for now, but if he continues to impress, I can't see him being here beyond January. The club need to be triggering that contract extension asap, otherwise we won't just be losing him, he'll be going for peanuts.

I'd be triggering that extension today. I think if he's still here by the end of the window, he sees out the season. Just because not many teams who need a new starting goalkeeper in January will be doing that well. If you're 12th on Jan 1st in L1, you are probably still only 4 or 5 points off the play off slots at that stage, rare a team looks to the keeper spot in that scenario as one to improve. So it's likely a team lower in L1 that would come in, but if we are doing well, is there a point in moving?

Even if a team does bid, will they have £400K+ to spend on a goalkeeper mid season? Highly unlikely. If a team are upgrading their keeper mid season, there's a high chance they will need to spend elsewhere so probably wont be allowed to spend that much on a position. If its a champ club, they probably can but that's a huge jump in quality and if a team in the champ are looking to change keeper, will the fanbase greet a goalie from two divisions below? Not with enthusiasm.

Unless we are 15th in January, i see Lewis finishing the season. Just hope the club aren't dumb enough the let his contract run down.

Both parties have the additional 12 month option as I read it Jordan. Any ideas if this is accurate?

Looks like Wrexham are going to be stepping up their search for another forward. Paul Mullin suffered a punctured lung in a friendly last night against a Man United youth 11 in America. Expected to miss up to 2 months of action.

They were in for Alfie May and Curtis Main earlier in the window, with May choosing Charlton and Main opting to go to India last week.
