If any of you has a late 1970's complete set of 11 Bradford City subbuteo players in good condition, its worth £400 now. Apparently, this set fetches more than any other team.

Must check my dad's loft to see whether he kept mine, not that I would sell though!

If I still had one it would be like a team of Fordy's midgets. Had to play it on the floor which meant constantly kneeling on players and having to glue them back together with Airfix glue. They got shorter and shorter!

I think a lot of old sets would double up as another club/country. City colours a bit more unique, maybe that's why the price?

I could never get a city team. They must have sold out as soon as Carters got delivery of them.

Just what I thought. I think Partick Thistle had similar kit in 70's to us, if I remember correctly?

We had a family set from the late 1960’s, black shorts, claret and amber stripes. I think someone ‘personalised’ them with a change in hair colour to reflect players at the time. Sadly some hard tackling meant that players legs suffered, and the airfix physio treatment was necessary.;)

Have you got the link @Idlebantam@Idlebantam ?

I used to collect Subbuteo stuff as a kid and remember my first ever Bradford City team had Bradford C / Mechelen on the box.

I had a stand (with spectators in!) a television gantry complete with cameramen, a scoreboard, continental style goals(had blue or red netting) and i think i had a police dog handler to tame the nasty 70s hooligans

The players in my first subuteo set were cardboard cut outs that slotted into their base. It didn't take long for them bend forward, a bit like Vaughan at Carlisle on Boxing Day.
Before getting a replica pitch we used an old tablecloth and chalked in the lines- happy days!!!!!!

Cannot remember which edition I had but it did have floodlights.

I had it pinned to a board, and because I had such a large bedroom I was able to keep it out permanently. Defintely my favourite childhood game which kept my friends and I entertained for hours

We also shared our colours (in Subbuteo) with KV Mechelen.

I also used to get mine from Carters.

I was the ultimate nerd - I had the Subbuteo "crowd noises album" which was available on 33" Vinyl. Chants and oooo's and ahhhh's the works! Worked nicely with my floodlight set up. As things got more modern, I switched the cloth pitch to the roll up astroturf version. Shame we can't do the same at VP.

I bought different strands and built a stadium. You could also buy the spectators unpainted so you could custom paint them yourself to match your club.
