Having listened to the interview again in the cold light of day I have a slightly different view this morning.

SM was angry with his team, really angry and I expect a few were told to call their agents on the way home to look for a new club asap. SM openly said we need around 6 players to bolster the squad and refreshingly for me, identified the same positions that have been regularly mentioned on here, up front, midfield, out wide and in defence. I would add goalkeeper there as well.

He referenced being really demoralised after careful planning and team meetings just went out of the window.
ROD getting beat at his near post again. BRE going walkabout. Donaldinho missing yet more open goals.

If the recruitment meeting went as well as suggested and the club is prepared to give SM/recruitment team the 4/6 players identified then we will have more than a fighting chance. I would suggest building for next season starts now. And it won't be the NL.

If the players are brought in and matters do not improve on the pitch then there is only one logical outcome in February.

All very well, but the biggest problem is square pegs in round holes, namely ruining wood and bre in a 352. It doesn't work in this khaki league

Football is a simple game if you use a simple formation

It makes me wonder how posters on here or fans more broadly had already identified the shortfalls in the squad long before the last transfer window had closed. And it's taken until now for the manager to identify the same weaknesses. It's puzzling .. well, no it isn't really!

We know for many of them when they are in a 352 they all start looking at each other thinking what do I do now.

Recent experience suggests BRE doesn’t have the footballing brain or ability to be anything other than one of two centre half’s in flat back 4. That’s his bread and butter.

Its taken until now for SM to go public about the areas he wants to strengthen. I think yesterday was the last straw for SM with some players.

3-5-2 does work in this league. Newport and Cheltenham who are 1st and 2nd play exactly that. It doesn't work for us with the defenders and strikers we have, however. Although I'm not sure any other formation would either.

The whole Vaughan situation stinks, it left us with an 18 year old unproven rookie, weak management, gambling and grabbing those pound sign savings at the earliest chance. Why when 4 strikers turned us down will our targets sign in Jan, ‘don’t you worry about players wanting to come play for Bradford’

    More drivel from McCall.

Yesterday might have been the final straw but since the transfer window closed and he managed to recruit the 'last piece of the jigsaw', he has said publicly on several occasions that he was happy with his squad. He even responded only recently in one of his interviews about a player who another club had recently brought in as a free agent by saying we weren't in the market for another centre half! How things have changed so dramatically in his views of the squad since his contract was extended.

Fair play to the interviewer, he doesn't back off and he asks the questions that fans want answering.

McCall sounded desperate, like he knows he's lost control. We need to be going into January with a clear plan and with a manager who's backed 100%. I can't see any way in which that can now be mccall

    Big risk though.

Because if we get to February and nothing has changed, the next outcome is even more logical regardless of the manager.

He isn’t the only manager to inherit players.

Since Stuart was appointed eleven other League Two clubs have changed managers.

Some have not had the opportunity to recruit new players in the transfer market or a the best only a very short spell, yet nine of those managers have teams above City.

Honestly Den, there are still some who will not blame McCall, its everyone elses fault from the fans to the guy washing the kit. And i get angry when i see terms like hindsight is a wonderful thing, it didn't need hindsight to see this squad would struggle due to rank bad recruitment and club strategy to go with a small squad, something McCall admits was wrong in his interview yesterday. Yes injuries haven't helped but even with a near full squad all it did was give McCall a licence to change the bloody formation every game.
I so want McCall to succeed but jeez he doesn't help himself.

I wouldn't bother, this is stuck in the past Bradford City, large parts of our fanbase will never accept anything but 442 is possible.

I don't listen to Radio Leeds commentary because I'm not a fan of Andy Kiwomya. However, I do listen to the post match interview. Jamie Raynor doesn't shirk from asking the awkward questions. Stuart reminds me of Boris, full of contradictions, no wonder the players look confused.

I’m still fuming that he said city fans would be happy to finish third from bottom.

He needs to stop these panicking interviews where he contradicts himself and says things like above.

Do you recall the SOS (Save our Stuart) campaign about 10 years ago when he walked out of the club after a string of poor performances and an inability to turn round a failing team? A friend and I had an almighty row with somebody we knew who was handing out the SOS cards outside the ground. We refused to take one. Inside there was a time to show these cards and I have to admit how surprised I was how many SOS cards were shown in support of SMc despite our poor results.

It showed to me at the time how many of the fan base are willing to give support to SMc the manager because of his status as a great player at VP; something I doubt would happen to another manager. That blind loyalty is still there for many imo but it's falling week on week. I don't see SMc arresting the current decline and would like to see him replaced before it starts to impact on our memories of SMc the playing legend. That would be a sad outcome.

It was clear he wasn't happy with the players. Mainly the defence because he openly admitted he dragged BRE off after 30mins.

However, what ways are you no looking at him going on about the 15 contracted players? The we need 4/6 players when if you remember after getting the lad the Wolves it was the last bit of the jigsaw? How about attacking wise we are a 10 side?

Oh and once again getting frustrated in an interview?

Sorry, but you can defend this. 6 defeats in a row! it's not acceptable and I just don't see how he can last for much longer. In fact the longer he stays the more real going into non league will become.

Firstly it is ten years ago. As I have said elsewhere, if you are mid 20’s or younger, then you are unlikely to have any actual memory of Stuart playing for City.

Since the SOS campaign, he has continued to manage the club on three separate occasions. Even the infamous second period, ended up in his team going into an awful run of results, so despite his presence he was not able to counter the influence of Rahic.

Sadly McCall the manager is not comparable to McCall the player. I wish it was different, but to use that phrase, ‘We are where we are’ and McCall is a key ingredient in the situation.

I remember it well Dennis, had a big online row with both Wood-always call him Michael not Mike as he got really upset if you called him Mike and to a lesser extent McKeown. I said you are backing the wrong horse and you are being almost cruel to the bloke who was clearly in distress managing City. Wood was really aggressive in his replies and obsessed with his hero McCall. His followers are still loyal now blaming everyone but him. I would love to see McCall take us up the division’s but it’s sadly never going to happen and McCall in that interview yesterday is showing the same distress levels that he had in 2009.

Out of 92 managers in the football league, McCall sits in 90th position.
I think that that tells us all a lot.
