    No doubt Edin will be nowhere to be seen and rightly so. I wonder if anybody other than Hopkin dare show their face tonight. This should be packed out with fans, current and former sponsors to make as much money for Darbs as possible, but with no Mason involved to generate interest, the numbers might be down. Hope not.

    The club should insist on all players attending. Partly because it should be a feature of their job to support a club hero in his out of need. That’s the sort of principle we seem to be losing sight of.

    But also to serve as and example of the backing and adulation that our fans give to players who truly put 100% in, and don’t give in, regardless of talent. Might embarrass a few into actually giving a shit.

    I will repeat that I am a big supporter of David Hopkin and believe he has the club and its fans at the forefront in his thinking.
    I hope the whole squad will be under orders to attend the Stephen Darby event tonight.
    They will then get a feel for the club in the eyes of a lot of its former playing heroes most of whom are still in or around the game.
    The feeling of the 2013 team and its togetherness with the fans might just rub off on a few of them new to the cause.

    Tough one really. Tonight is about Stephen Darby & Jason McKeown's book launch and having current players present could switch the attention and mood.

    I agree though that there are certainly lessons for this team to learn from the squad of 2013. There's a reason why a player on loan from Huddersfield is probably the most relatable player that we have at the moment.

    Think it is not the time or place for any of our current team. It is a night for us to thank and support the ones that did so much along with us ourselves. Even if the current team were performing well, it is not about them.

    What would any of our present squad have in common with "the history makers", I agree with @loz@loz, a night for fans to reminisce that great time when these guys were going beyond the call at times to win games along with their fellow team mates, the present lot shouldn't be mentioned in the say breath.

    As you know I'll stand my corner as best I can but what sort of reply was that, it's a message board fans are going to have a difference of opinions, but I'll repeat what have the "history makers " and this gutless lot in common, very little apart from them all being classed as professional footballers, I leave it to other posters to see if they can find any common ground.
    If I'm in your company that'll do for me :p.

    Don't think you are qualified to make that statement. I am as entitled as anyone to hold an opinion. There is a time and place for everything and tonight is nothing to do with our present squad regardless of what we may think of them.
