Those three had very brief careers overall.
Chippendale apprenticed with us, but never played a first-team match. He did make a handful of appearances for a few other League sides though. I wonder if he's related to (?father) of the Aidan Chippendale who had a similarly short League career a decade or so ago.
Hanson was another of our apprentices. He made 1 League start for us in the 1980/1 season, and that was it for his League career.
Hebditch apprenticed at Leeds, came to us, made 2 League starts in the 1980/1 season, and that was it for his League career.
Steve Watson was another who never appeared for us, nor anyone else in the League as far as I can tell.

The appointment of Mark Hughes feels very much like when City appointed Roy McFarland to me. Bradford City will go into next season on the back of a 14th place finish, just like they did all those years ago when Roy McFarland joined us.
There are differences, Roy McFarland started as player-manager with us and, hopefully, Mark Hughes will show more 'loyalty' than McFarland did, but the similarities are definitely there for me.
There is an expectation about next season that feels much more real than the numerous false dawns that have gone before. Maybe a season too late, we will finally get a team that will repeat the success of the 1981/82 team, the team whose shirts we paid tribute to this season.

There's no denying having MH in charge is a huge piece of the jigsaw of what's needed for our progression, and for all the mistakes in recent history by those in charge above him there is no way any of them can possibly ignore any advice/direction he gives them during this new era.

I'm definitely positive we'll finish at least in the play offs next season, I'd even go as far as say even if MH only had our exact squad to work with he'd get us in the play offs, so hopefully his additions should do the trick. I'm even considering season tickets for me and lad after a 4 year absence.

During our first season in L2, we were in the top 9 after the boxing day fixture.
7 of that top 9 have achieved promotion since then. Only us and Port Vale haven't.

But be ready for endless waves of rumours about how Hughes is(n't) leaving. And if we have a goalscorer, expect City fans to wish him away come January.
Success has a price, but as long as we're ready.
I mean, some were dreaming that Hughes was on his way to Blackburn because we won two games in a row.WilsdenBantam and Onside like this. -
It's like they want all the control and none of the blame. I feel very positive about the new season. We have an outstanding manager and recent signs point towards more and more improvement in what we have available to us. If we can succeed in our player retention and recruitment plans we could really fly.
Angol being in the team and the mobility and link up play he brings, completely transforms how we play. That front 3 of Vernam, Angol, Perreira and Walker only started 3 games together and we won them all, looking like a side who could blow teams away.
Vernam will need to be replaced, though it'll be interesting to see whether Eisa could do that. I think we'll have a decent chance of bringing Perreira back. So then its a case of adding one or 2 more quality attacking players so we're not short, which I back us to do. We then need to replace Watt if he leaves. I hope he stays but if he does go then I think we have an opportunity to bring in a more experienced and commanding CM. Someone like a Paul Coutts who can dominate the centre of the park physically and technically.
Bottom line - Mark Hughes will be a big draw for players. If we can provide competitive financial packages for players, the mood of the place, the number of fans we bring to matchdays and crucially the chance for players to really develop whilst here, should mean we can recruit really well. And the signing of Walker demonstrates that point.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...CT Bantam likes this. -

If Perriera doesn't come back I'd like us to bring in Callum Roberts from Notts County who has got the end product.
