Thanks for those Dave. It does take me back. I had just left school in the May , had my apprenticeship lined up to start in the September. Had saved a bit of cash and was planning a summer of debauchery. Dad was having non of it , had me a temporary job lined up ,starting on the first Monday morning at the baths department, where he worked , i was working 8 am till 5 pm Monday to Fridays with the maintenance team. then 6 pm till 10pm and 8 till 4 at the weekends, poolside as a life guard, Almost 70 hours a week for £0.80p per hour. Taught me what working for a living meant.

I loved the lido, we used to go there all the time in the holidays.
