    Sir David Amess: Conservative MP stabbed to death - BBC News

    As per above, Sir David Amess MP has today been stabbed to death in a church whilst holding a clinic for his constituents. It's sad to think than in just 5 years two sitting MP have been murdered on our streets whilst seeing their constituents.

    Whatever your politics, today is another sad day seeing such attacks for our democracy.

    RIP David Amess and Jo Cox.

    Absolutely shocking. When I first read the news breaking it said he was dealt with by two ambulances and hadn't gone to hospital. I thought that meant he was ok rather than he had died.

    Without easy access to our MPs they will become even more away from their constituency members

    I can't remember the last time I've felt physically sickened by a news story prior to today. Utterly abhorrent and almost incomprehensible. I'm not a supporter of the Conservatives but that's irrelevant. The sheer gruesome nature of how this unfolded is beyond appalling and my heart sincerely goes out to all those who were close to him.

    Nobody, irrespective of who you are, should lose their life simply doing their job to put food on the table and a roof over their heads.

    To be fair there are 1k+ quoted tweets tearing him to bits for such an idiotic tweet. There are other people going after Angela Rayner who are no better.

    There's no fair about it, the lad has used the death of an MP to try and score brownie points, the sort of thing he has tried ridiculing others for in the past. I'm not just picking on him though, this is was just an example of the world of social media and especially twitter.

    The thing is it's not the same. You can't characterise Conservatives as homophobic, racist scum and then ask people to behave civilly towards them.

    I'm not saying there's a direct link, there isn't, but the words we use and the way we characterise people are important. Tories are not actually evil people.

    It's a shameful state of affairs that an MP can't actually serve their constituents without coming under this type of attack. The tributes from all sides of the house for Mr Amess show what sort of person he was and I'm gutted for his family. There's some very deranged people out there.

    I do agree with that, I just think making political points or attacking MPs is just not the right thing to do immediately after a murder. Too many people are judge and jury when absolutely no details are know. All we know at this stage is a man was murdered doing his job and if people can't put politics to one side for the time being they are better to just keep quiet.
