Scraps or bits

Scraps.
Bits are what them there Dog Botherer type folk have, in fact there's a chippy (or used to be) on the way into 'Udders called "Wi Bits".

Always scraps in Bradford.
You would be laughed at if you said bits in Bradford.
Only heard bits when I moved to Bailiff Bridge(HD postcode) 20 years ago.

 

Scraps/bits, not a fan, they spoil a good chippy tea.

I like the nice big ones, but not the small greasy ones. The key is to get them to put them in a separate bag, so you can sift out the good ones, not just dump them all over your chips.

Scraps. Though, you rarely see them in the fish oils, up here.

 

My mum would get us to down the chippy for chips and a separate bag of scraps when she made braised steak and onions with gravy, soaked the gravy up with the chips and scraps. Happy times.

 

I've never been a fan of chips with gravy. Always been a ketchup man and, more latterly, mayonnaise.
Give me mash with braised steak and onions with gravy every time.

 

Don't like mash with anything, despise sausage and mash. Northern boys love gravy with owt.

 

I love gravy. Just not with chips.

Mash is food of the gods, especially with lashings of thick brown gravy.

I’ve never heard them called bits, thought it was just scraps universal. As others have said need them in a separate bag, but I rarely get them.

 

I like eating the soggy batter that gets stuck on the wrapping

 

Sausage, mash and gravy is a big fat YES from me too. Preferably with a spoon or two of baked beans.

 

Colleague at work the other day asked what I'd had for dinner/lunch....scallop butty was my reply, she said crikey your posh aren't you, always fancied them in restaurants but they're always expensive.

Didn't let on I'd had the 50p chippy version
