Personally, I don't think he was at fault. It's pretty common for Keepers to push up. You don't expect your teammate to take a stupid shot that far out and hit it so hard against a defender who is pretty much in front of him so it rebounds far enough to allow you to get caught

he lives about a mile from me on ‘his Croft’. I’ll pass on all our regards.

We better win on friday, they will be up for it, we need to remain professional and not get drawn in. The games are usually fairly close, hopefully England will get the three points.

It would be nice to see England pull Scotland out of Europe for a second time.

He got beaten from the halfway line. I'm bemused how it can be argued that its not at least partially the the keepers fault.

Pretty much every modern keeper comes out of his box these days when his team are in the other half so as not to leave a big gap for a striker on the break to run into. The chances of one of your defenders who is what at least 30 yards out shooting and doing so so hard that it rebounds almost to the halfway line and right at the opponent who is basically unmarked due to him having left that space is really low. Guarding against the low percentage thing at the expense of a higher percentage thing would just be crazy

A better keeper has a better starting position and saves that. There's no way a keeper should be beaten from that area of the pitch.

Taking a step or two back from where he was and he saves it and he's also in a good position to come racing out of he needs to. Its a fine line but still without doubt a goalkeeping error.

Look where the Scottish defenders are though, not only has Henry ended up closer to their goal than the halfway line but the other two are also over it. He takes a couple of steps back and there is a healthy gap with no threat of offside and the keeper isn't getting there and is being beaten in a worse manner. And its not really the starting position that sees him beaten, its the curve, height, accuracy and most importantly how early he takes it. By being able to hit it so early it forces the keeper to be focused on the ball and as such his body shape is all wrong to make the save, move his starting position a few steps closer and he still gets beaten as the placement of the shot means at best he is tipping it into his own net. He would have needed to be way further back to save it IMHO so he could sort his body position out rather than having to balance between getting back and watching the ball
