Nah, not the same at all. Different level and expectations of success.

But were not talking Bradford City, why wouldnt Salford look at his short management career and see the way he preferred his teams to play, I'm expect this would be a part of any interview with regards him taking Salford forward.

I suspect he lost the dressing room which is a major issue in Football these days. The difference between winning and losing is such a small margin in modern football that if a manager losses the dressing room just that small bit of unhappiness can have a massive difference. I think it pretty telling that the players have only really turned in a good performance once in recent games and that was the cup final, the boost of a final can often be enough to offset any unhappiness but you get to the league and lose that and the issues shown their face again.

Bowyer is an odd choice mind you, there may not be many options out there that are viable options but I don't see him getting and keeping the players on his side. I'm actually surprised mind you they didn't get Keane in for the rest of the season before looking for a long term option in the Summer. Keane's been making noises about wanting to get back into management, specifically the Celtic job in the summer so a short term couple of month job at Salford, a team he has been attending a lot of matches over the last couple of seasons would have seemed a good option and someone they could have got to do them a favour with ease

Only on loan, will return to Derby in the summer. How tinpot bizarre is that, I'm surprised that is allowed to be honest

I was just informed it was Gary Bowyer he didnt mention your above, seems a strange set up, what if he goes on to get them promoted does the agreement allow him to stay on or have Derby let him go on the proviso he comes back whatever the situation is at Salford as you say a little bizarre.

I'm pretty sure they don't want him full time. I get the feeling if they get promoted they would be looking to go after at least a proven Championship level manager. As I said I get the feeling Wellens lost the dressing room and it been decided he is unlikely to win them back so there is nothing to lose just getting the best possible stopgap available to them. They won't get relegated, if they don't improve it doesn't matter as there were no signs they would improve under Wellens but if by bringing a new face in and a different atmosphere they can go on a run and get at least playoffs thus giving a chance of promotion its a bonus and gives them time to really think about options both if they stay in Legaue 2 or go up (or maybe even the same no matter what, they might very well try and go for a higher level manager they would go for if in league 1 even if still in league 2)

Well they certainly have the finacial clout to do well but money isn't everything although having money is better than not having it.

More players in the window to suit his style, more time for players to understand his system? I'm very confused by your comment. Wellens first season at Swindon was 9th, season after he got them 1st? is no team capable of improvement or decline?

To think that Salford sacked Graham Alexander because his style of football was not entertaining enough ..

and now come Gary Bowyer ...

    Oh well

    Nicky Butt.

Steps down as development coach at Man UTD and says ready for a fresh challenge.

He's a shareholder at Salford. Every chance he will be manager soon.
