As @The Voice@The Voice seems to be using a heck of a lot of Strepsils etc and the game starts in less than 24 hours, I thought I may as well start a thread.

Our away form is truly imperious!

Salford are in a major slump with their form. One win in the last five!! Over the last eight home matches they have the worst set of results, with 1 win, 3 draws and 4 defeats.

Given their ‘Hire and fire’ policy, the manager Neil Woods (virtual ‘in-house’ appointment) must be virtually a ‘dead man walking’!

A tinny tiny stadium, hidden in a housing estate. Watch out for the ‘Resident Only’ parking restrictions, the Wardens around there are like Bounty Hunters!

Ena Sharples, Elsie Tanner, Kevin Webster and Jack Duckworth may venture out from the Rovers Return and moan in the Home Stand.

One of those games which is difficult to predict. Both City and Salford have a blank Saturday to look forward to (why on earth didn’t they play the match then). So it will depend on whether the managers decide to rest players.

If he plays then it is a good opportunity for Andy Cook to score and press for his potential £25 million move to Manchester United, as loads of their former players will be present!

Oh Boy, they are on an absolute downer. Despite new CEO, Nicky Butt, saying they made mistakes with previous managers there is an element of desperation now with failure to achieve the promtions they were anticipating when they got in L2. Looking at the latest interview Butt appears to have accepted they won't do it this season either so perhaps another change of Manager looming.
To get a little bit back from Saturday and the fact we have no game this week, strongest team and give them a doing.

I do hope MH has a good go at a plan B.

    Something scary like 4 4 2.

It starts to get slightly more interesting now we're into the knockouts.

4 wins away from a televised Wembley cup final must be enough to whet the appetite of even the most pessimistic of people regarding this competition!

Besides, now that this is the only competition left for us outside the League, why not go for it.

For me I don't see a reason why not to play a strong side tonight. It's a winnable match, we don't have a game this weekend and a good chance to get back to winning ways. We should be able to make a few changes without weakening the side if we bring in Odusina, East, Wright and Oliver.

It's seem strange a City match thread as the World Cup gets into swing and off to a good start.

Almost feels as though we shouldn’t be playing. Hard to explain.

Jon, given we are out of the other Cups and some on here bemoan the loss of income from those results, this is not to be sneezed at.
£20k for taking part plus £10k for our win against the Owls. £20k if we win tonight, £40k for next round and so it goes to £100k for the final and £50k for runner up.
Three years ago Sunderland reckoned they made £1 million from it.

Go for it I say tin pot or not.

And even if it's a 'tin pot cup' winning any cup is good for the players and good for the fans as well.

I'm a little surprised Sparkie hasn't given Odusina a run out, especially after Saturday.

Would have liked to have seen East get a game, other than that looks a decent line up.

I thought the same but Salford have Matt Smith up front tonight so may actually suit Songo'o.
