Totally agree Storck. Shrews put in 550 safe standers with £65k direct fans contribution and rest crowd funded. I posted on this before. It’s all well and good quoting Celtic and big clubs but Shrews wouldn’t have done it with their own money as they didn’t have it. Imagine the uproar if Bantams fans asked to contribute. As you say, won’t happen.

Show me where anyone has suggested the club should do it?

We'd be happier if the club just concentrate their efforts on the pitch and get us out of the constant cycle of false promises and disappointment.

Isnt this safe standing going to be seats that have individual barriers in front of them rather than a return to terracing ?

Any way, to be pedantic and play devils advocate, shouldn't this be in General Football talk ? I'm sure @bantamlad92@bantamlad92 will soon be on to question it.

Yep safe standing is barriers etc between seats rather than straight terracing but it does involve remove current seating, replacing it with the new and possibly altering the width and depth of steps to allow for the new seats. Looking at the new regulations it would also mean having a gap behind the safe standing area so that those sat in the area behinds view isn't blocked even if everyone in the safe standing are stood up. Plus they have to do it in away end as well

People do it anyway, take the upper kop for example. Soon as the ball goes into the box, folk 75 rows back still stand up despite having best view of anyone else in the stadium

I think the ships sailed for the terracing of old to be brought back ..
However, I'm not too fussed either way.
The days of my bouncing up and down to 'knees up Mother brown' are long gone.
Its more ' try get up from sitting down' these days when we actually score !!

Totally agree. Having sat down for the last 22 years (in the same seat) I wont be rushing to join it

We will try it until someone is killed or seriously injured and then someone who approved this nonsense will be in the media claiming we have to learn the lessons as usual in foreseen disasters

Reminds me of the last bit of dialogue in the Towering Inferno...................

McQueen - "You know we were lucky tonight. Body count's less than 200. One of these days you're gonna kill 5,000 in one of these fire traps, and I'm gonna keep eating schmoke and bringing out bodies, until somebody asks us how to build them"
    Newman - "Ok, I'm Asking"
McQueen - "You know where to reach me. So long architect"

Nothing is 100% safe but this is as close as you'll get it's safer than both the old style terracing and fans standing up in seated areas.
The main safety issues with old style terraces were:
    - the risk of crushing from multiple rows surging forward which is eliminated with this as every row has a barrier
    - overcrowding in areas due to fans not having a set place to go which was a big factor behind Hillsborough but this is eradiated as long as people stand at the seat number on their ticket
The main safety issue with standing in seated areas is from people falling backwards or forwards as there is nothing to stop them falling with the seats being low, this is eradicated with the barriers in front and behind people.

There is no big safety risk with this and has been in place around Europe for a number of years with no serious injury or death due to the safe standing areas.

If you introduce safe standing with lockable seats, then the rails impinge on the space. In parts of the Valley Parade, the actual terraces are narrow. People already have significant difficulty with poor leg room. In many parts of the ground, the terracing would have to be ripped up, and replaced. It would mean a loss of rows and some seats, as the safe standing ones need more width.

The poor leg room only really applies in the lower Sunwin and if safe standing was introduced at VP (which it won't be) that area would never be used for that purpose anyway.

One or two blocks of the lower tier of the Braford End would be my choice area for safe standing.

Leg room is poor upstairs in Sunwin too, not as bad as down stairs but I still struggle and I'm only 5ft9

I would imagine that would be a very poor view as its quite low, perhaps stick away fans in there !! To me the only logical place is the lower Kop

and according to the rules you have to stay in your allocated 'seat' and they are designed to be directly behind each other not offset
