Sorry Rod I missed your original point. The cantilever system is also based on weight loadings as said earlier.

Couldn't be bothered with a new thread, but looks like Mansfield are the first club to blink, they've switched their home game Oct 15 against Walsall to a 1pm KO due to not wanting to use the floodlights. Trial game, if all goes well from a clubs standpoint, they will look to continue it going forward.

They will all follow suit. Wonder if that’s a sign of fund shortages…if so I’m surprised.

Yeah, just needed one to go and many will follow. L1s big clubs maybe OK to carry on as norm, but if keeping the floodlights off saves that much, i'd imagine 1pm L2 games might be very common until March-ish. Not sure if it's shortage of funds or trying their best to save what they can for now.

We missed a trick last season we could have had them installed on the pitch.

I tend to agree, so as posted in loyalty points thread, I've just amended my train times to Orient in December to arrive in the capital at 11.31

It makes sense for clubs to make savings. It's right and fair. But boy, it causes headaches around forward planning.

Communication will be ABSOLUTE key here, from football clubs

I wonder if the EFL will be so accommodating if a Club wants to move its kick off times to 12:30pm, thereby allowing the fixture to be shown on iFollow as well.

1 pm, 2pm ,3pm makes no difference to me, but at least if its the earlier time you should not be travelling too and from VP in the dark during the winter months and can be safely tucked up with something warming before the cold night drops in and still enough time for a pint before hand if you so wish.

A 1pm kick of makes sense in these difficult times with electricity prices rising fast. It would be great for myself yes an earlier start in the morning but travelling in the light is much better than the dark as you get older

    Agreed on that score!

In the depths of winter would a 1 o’clock be soon enough, heavy cloud etc etc makes it gloomy at any time of day especially as sunlight fades in midwinter? It’s a chance the ref may want lights on before 90 mins are up but if it saves clubs from potentially going under, a small price to pay imho.
