Ryan McGowan on the City training systems

Great read.

Comes across as a real motivator both on and off the pitch and whilst I wouldn't expect any employee to criticize his boss, I felt that he genuinely was behind the management team.

Interesting to hear his story from joining Hearts from Adelaide to his time in China. Must have matured him at such an early age.

 

Agree, Dave. Playing in other countries also helps develop awareness within the game itself, as the dynamics and cultural differences (within how the game is played) do affect your own style and wherewithal. All good experience.

 

What I liked most was the reference to his 'second mum', whilst at Hearts.

City should be aware of this, and ensure that say for the first 6 months, these young lads are 'fostered' into football minded family surroundings, and a watchful eye kept, in terms of diet and behaviour, before just setting them up with fellow 'House mates'.

Collins is only 32, he's been in the pro game a mere 15 years to supplement his pointless certificates, there's no way he can know what he is doing and inspire/motivate players.
