Put the thread on ignore if you think it's pointless, it's a bit of fun if nothing else.

Let’s just start by beating Salford first and then move on to the next match. We need do our talking on the pitch.

I'm waiting for someone to say we'll lose every match

In anticipation I'll counter that by saying we'll win the lot

Happy Clapper marching onwards and upwards into L1 :)

It’s all part of football banter which gets you through the week. It used to be done in the pub and on the bus. Now it’s on line.

Plymouth showed last night what a different team they are on a decent surface. I guess we should cross our fingers and hope that every pitch we play on till the end of the season looks like the Somme.

Very optimistic in thinking this squad will only lose 1 more game. Hope you are right but just cannot see it.

Never mind missing out on't play offs Mr doom and gloom, I'm hoping Exeter and Plymouth both lose tomorrow night to kick start our late surge up the table to snatch that last automatic spot!!

It crossed my mind that if those games are genuinely crucial, they will be more winnable than they might appear right now.

    That's the nature of football.

However, I want for more likely results than three straight wins.

Had a look what's happened in recent history play off wise, back to our PO winning season. Below are the teams that made it to Wembley those years. Team in bold won the game.

    18/19 - Newport 12th (6 points off 7th), Tranmere 6th
    17/18 - Exeter 6th, Coventry 8th (3 points off 7th)
    16/17 - Blackpool 15th (8 points off 7th), Exeter 6th
    15/16 - Wimbledon 8th (1 point off 7th), Plymouth 3rd
    14/15 - Southend 6th, Wycombe 3rd
    13/14 - Fleetwood 6th, Burton 4th
    12/13 - Bradford 12th (9 points off 7th), Northampton 5th

Side that ends up going up has been no higher than 6th place on March 3rd of those seasons. Only once in the last 5 seasons has a team in the play offs by March 3rd and also gone up. Teams finishing 6th & 7th appeared in the most finals, with 6th place being in 5 of the 7 finals, 7th being in 4 finals.

Mathematically I don't think it is but physiologically I'd say it is. If we can end this winless away run against one of the home teams in the division then you give ourselves a chance and get the monkey off our back. If we are to have any chance of sneaking 7th place then we've got to get a minimum of 1 win away from home which if we don't get tomorrow looks less and less likely with Port Vale, Exeter, Northampton and Forest Green only left to play away.

There has been a lot said over this season and last about the lack of characters in the squad and there not being any players that we as fans can feel some sort of affinity with. I'd say the closest we've got to a player like that is Connolly, and I think he has an important role to play in the run in, as much in the dressing room as on the pitch. If some of his enthusiasm, passion and desire can rub off on the rest of the squad, we might just see the fight from them that is needed to get us to 7th.

Looking at our away fixtures I can’t see us winning another away game this season

    Northampton: Mansfield W, FGR W, Carlisle W, Cambridge D, Oldham W, Crewe L, Colchester D, Plymouth L, Bradford W, Newport D (18 points)

    Vale: Cheltenham L, Crawley W, Bradford D, Oldham D, Crewe D, Carlisle L, Grimsby W, Cambridge D, Newport W, Plymouth L (13 points)

    Colchester: Carlisle D, Scunthorpe W, Crewe D, Newport L, Mansfield W, Bradford L, Northampton D, Oldham W, Walsall D, FGR W (16 points)

    City: Salford L, Orient W, Vale D, Macclesfield W, Exeter L, Colchester W, FGR L, Crewe D, Northampton L, Walsall W (14 points)

That'd leave it Northampton 76, Colchester 71, Vale 69, City 68 so unfortunately can't see us doing it but obviously I will be wrong just hope it's with our scores...

The harder you clap the better our chances, so think about that next time you have a negative thought m8. Keep it to yourself and be quiet, or we’ll lose.

    This is pointless.

We've no chance in finishing in the play offs.. it's done.. season is about hopefully improving some of the players and finding a good formations

    Bit optimistic but do-able!

    Salford A Win
    Orient H Win
    Port Vale A Draw
    Macclesfield H Win
    Exeter A Lose
    Colchester H Win
    Forest Green A Win
    Crewe H Win
    Northampton A Lose
    Walsall H Win

Which gives us 22pts... in total gives us 76pts which should be a playoff place!

Doesn't help we have a god awful run in but Northhamptons does look worse than ours. Gone for a W at salford as they are poor at home. The home wins purely on our excellent home form; Swindon, Exeter, Plymouth and Northhampton all lost at VP and Cheltenham drew against a 10 man City. The only team to beat us in the Top 7 was Port Vale. We keep this record up we have a good chance of getting into the playoffs.
