Tottenham have concluded their findings which included lip reading supporters in the entire section of the south stand and found no evidence of racism.

Of all supporters in that area not one heard any racism according to their forums.

All that was heard was booing 2 minutes after Rudiger play acted to get Son sent off.

So it seems almost certain he heard booing yet accused the clubs supporters of a criminal offence.

Surely this is almost a case of defamation and bringing the clubs name into disrepute? Can’t just go round accusing people of crimes unless you’re absolutely certain it happened.

He thought he heard it, no evidence to suggest either way. Could easily have been misinterpreted, who can say. I’d guess in a crowd of 60,000 there would be a number of witnesses to any event alleged to have occured within a football stadium.

Not sure what there is to complain about.

someone has reported something , they have followed the rules and it has been investigated.

It will be more interesting how the findings are received by various groups

Post match there was Graeme Souness, Ashley Cole and Gary Neville discussing the incident, Souness said the fans sat around whoever made the remark should have been reported to stewards, come into the real world Graeme that individual possibly had a bunch of his mates sat around him who wouldnt be happy with their mate being thrown out and possibly prosecuted.
Very similar to the guys who let smoke bombs off at away games, no individual fan is going to point him out, for fear of repercussions.

For a while, I worked in Game development and something you would see in Online games is you would see some of the community notice some actual cheaters. They speak about it and you start to see others pick up on people cheating but then it reaches a tipping point, there is so much talk of cheaters that when they get killed by another player legitimately they see simple game mechanics as evidence of cheating. Suddenly you have the majority of people claiming they encounter multiple cheats in every game they play.

And this is the situation we might now be seeing with racism in football, players start to expect to hear it and their brain plays tricks on them. A boo starts to sound like monkey noises, taunting might sound like racist words etc. Unless it's clear and obvious it's maybe the time people need to take a breath before saying anything and allow a proper investigation because situations, where it seems like they may have misheard, muddies the water for the legit ones

But if they don’t say anything how does an investigation happen? Or do you mean the officials shouldn’t say anything? So no tannoy announcements etc?

It should be reported but unless there is absolute evidence right at that moment that what the player thinks they heard or seen is what they heard or seen it should be done more discreetly. It doesn't do anyone any good when you have a situation like this as you are likely to see the Black Community shouting cover-up and others using it to call all players making claims lairs when the likelihood is neither is a true statement

Surely Rudiger should apologise to Tottenham for getting the wrong end of the stick.

I’d be fuming if I were accused of something I categorically would not and did not do.

I don't know, I don't think its an easy apology to make without undermining the cause further than the incorrect accusation already has. Certainly, it's not something you want him to rush into
