I’m really saddened by this one, one of the games really nice blokes. I think an example to all young players.

I did see him play at Old Trafford in 1967 (the last game of the season).
Only time I've ever been to Old Trafford.
I only went to see Gordon Banks who played for Stoke City, the opposition on that day.
As I remember Bobby Charlton saying, you don't score if you don't shoot. The supporters will forget all the shots you missed but "by 'eck" they'll remember the ones you score. (I still remember his header in 1968 European Cup final against Benfica).

R I P SIR BOBBY never had the chance to see him in the flesh but as a kid always watched in awe on the telly. A sad loss to the game.

I'm 66 now but when I was a very young boy playing football in Peel Park and then Harold Park when we moved across town due to my dad's change of job it was always "I'll be Bobby Charlton dad". I loved watching him play for England on the telly. Happy days.
Thanks for all the memories Sir Bobby. RIP.Interested Bystander likes this. -

RIP Bobby.
For those who didn't see it, there was an excellent programme on Bobby's life last night on Beeb2 at 10.30. It should be available on iPlayer. For somebody like me who never saw him in his pomp, it was a great watch.
