With FCD only been young and struggled with out Clarke, who's going to be right back? I don't see any point in it been AOC, surly hes back up to the center backs, carnt cope with going down the mcall route of playing player out of position, folds,? Staunton? Anyone else?

AOC is going to be at right back until they need to change it.

This is good timing for FCD, and seems like sensible man-management - something we didn't get under Stuart with the other young lad in Reece Staunton.

Luckily for FCD and Staunton, they've had a very good introductory season to first team football even if they don't kick a ball again this season - and I'm sure they both will. I wouldn't be looking to rush either back. Get those lads on the bench and get them some minutes as subs.

I'd seen that but do you think that's the way forward? A centre back at right back when there is FCD, folds and Staunton available to play in there natural positions?

Anthony O'Connor is a better defender than FCD, Foulds and Staunton, so yeah, I'm absolutely fine with it.

And even though he's playing RB, he's still the cover for CB. They'll just bring one of those lads on to play right back, I imagine.

    Hossanah will be back soon.
Gareth Evans was apparently very good there for Pompey too. Evans can also play in central midfield which given our lack of cover there could come in useful.

I wouldn't be employing Evans as a right back. We aren't good enough to have such an attacking player in a defensive role. When he did that job for Pompey, they won the league; they could deal with it, and he did a good job. We're 20th, though, and I can't imagine he would play in that position again unless we had a spate of injuries in that position - just like the situation was at Portsmouth when they tried him there.

I don't agree with that, Staunton played a few games and never looked like he needed a break, id like to see folds take his chance too, surly now is the time to let the younger ones, the squad players come on im the team, and let AOC win his place back or be there if there's an injury at CB?

    Foulds is a left back
Staunton is centre back who can play left back.
    Neither are right backs.

Not really sure what to do with this post.

Staunton needed a rest so bad he did his hammy, and wanting Foulds to get a shot is just like throwing a dart blindfolded. None of his have seen him play a single minute of football at any level, ever. How can you possibly be of the opinion he should get his chance?

I mean, I don't like AOC at all, I'd be upset if we renewed his contract for next season, and it's time to move on, but I'm not advocating playing Staunton or Foulds ahead of him, that just sounds insane to me.

As a last resort. He's playing too well in his current position to take him out of the attacking options.

We need a quick defender in there for me. Both AOC and FCD are exposed to anyone running at them with pace. Luckily though, most wingers in this league don't have an end product, but they do put the beejeebies up you when they ghost past the defender.

Why suggest natural positions and name 3 centre backs?

    My spidey senses are tingling.

FCD had one bad game the match before he played well and was voted MOM so let’s not write him off

No one is writing him off but had it been any other right back of ours no one would be questioning him being put on the bench after two ordinary performances. It was the right decision to go with AOC at right back, but then saying this must mean I hate FCD with a passion.

Hosannah is the answer as he is easily our best right back when fit.By the way anyone got any news on return date?
FCD has been excellent in the new regime's setup and having a game off he should be back in with either Clarke or Evans in front of for cover.
It worked beautifully before Exeter and should be allowed to continue until Hosannah is fit
    enough for selection.
AOC is knee jerk reaction and should be done away with. He is a CB and should be a squad player in that role unless fitness problems occur in defensive
    positions.
FCD for me tomorrow as its a home game and he has had his break.

You do realise that FCD is a centre back by trade right? And that AOC has played right back before whilst at Aberdeen?

I went through this with Connor Wood in his first season.

I 'hated him' because I pointed out he was at fault for quite a few goals that season.

But now that you've outed yourself as the most anti-FCD poster on this board, you're going to have to live with it buddy.
