The more you look at it the more impressive it is. He played in both the fixtures the season Blackburn and ourselves were league 1 where Blackburn had a right line up. A proper deep lying midfielder, shame Watt will more than likely leaving as I think.it would have allowed Watt to push forward more where think his skills would be better served

I've always said if you get beat by the better team in the day it's part of football. What a lot of folk don't seem to realise that eleven on the pitch come match day is the piece of the jigsaw puzzle comprising of months, even years, of vision and structure on and off the field. Meticulous preparation covering every detail of transfers, fitness and conditioning, the pitch surface and training facilities, that eleven is a team of more like nearer a hundred for a club of our size. And each of that near hundred had a role to play no matter how small. The past five years we've had no infrastructure to speak of, just trying to wing our way through each week hoping a manager can wave a magic wand over the chaos. Slowly we seem to be building a structure to give the players on the pitch a.decent go of things.

Well that’s the majority in place and we even out of June ............. I hope the club don’t forget the tradition of bringing in a journeyman striker with stats of one goal every 10 games to appease right moaning twats like me .......... if this doesn’t happen then I’m right back in the Rupp out thread

Where is your leader @Fordy117@Fordy117 tonight? Rather quiet.

Yer once @Fordy117@Fordy117 has done some of his uber deliveries for McD's and cleaned his c class Merc out he could run Sparky down to S Wales and see what's occurring.

You mean the Rupp Out Boyz. Absolutely no doubt Hughes has been backed and well.

If we don't go up this year, there is zero reason to blame Rupp.

Agree. I can't see Watt staying, which is a shame. I honestly think the best thing for his development would be a season learning next to Smallwood, in a side that I think will dominate possession most weeks. A year here and he could be ready for the championship

Watt has been crying out for a decent midfield partner since he's been here, none.of the players that we've had during his time here, with due respect, have been good enough. I think it would have been a very good midfield two.

Comes from his brother who seems happy with the move. It's a game changer that wouldn't have happened without Gent being in the recruitment department. The club seems to putting Jigsaw pieces in the right slots at the moment

Morecambe? That's got to be a wind up. Wasn't there a game where Cooke's dad got a bit angry with some of our fans that were slagging his son off, and he told them Adams was ruining him? Can't see Cooke wanting to play for Del boy again.

Four Managers (Five if you include the Peterborough spell) couldn't get the best out of him. When does the player take responsibility for his performances?

It can't keep being the Manager's fault. The player is the constant in the equation.

Bang on Rog. One can see there actually is a structured “plan” emanating from the club by improving Commercial activity, media ( Its kept fans “ interested” throughout the close season and played it’s part in increased season sales) , scouting and recruitment , and one that will take a fair while and that is of young player development.
It’s all showing signs of paying off even at this early stage. Dare we dream?

Things really do appear to have changed down at VP both on and off the pitch and for the better. We have an experienced manager who has made an excellent start to this season's recruitment and most people appear to be behind his decisions so far. Who could have expected our club attracting the likes of Walker and Smallwood to VP without the attraction of MH himself? And it's all happening much sooner without the need for our previous last minute panics. Long may it continue. With a fair wind, this newly found confidence within the fanbase will shortly be translated into better performances and results on the pitch.

On the Adams front, if you recall, he was initially a popular choice of manager 12 months ago. Most posters wanted him as manager and supported his appointment once it had been made. It's an easy comment to make of Adams not being right for us with the benefit of hindsight but I don't recall this being a widely held view at the time of his appointment. Given how his tenure ended, he clearly wasn't the right person to bring success at VP but that wasn't a widely held view before then. Hopefully we have done our homework on MH in a better way than with Adams and the widespread enthusiasm for Hughes continues and he brings success to our club. We've been waiting a long time for that!

Let's all be brutally honest, he is nowhere near the midfield general we were expecting to skipper us out of this godforsaken league. Little energy, misplaced passes, awful set pieces. I wanted to give him a few months before judging him, but I really cannot see him having a sudden upturn in level of performance

How he captained a team for 2 seasons in the championship prior coming to us beggars belief!

He's been a poor signing. Nothing in skill department and an engine that looks like it's blown a gasket. As for him being captain, everything about the second goal today suggests he shouldn't even be on the pitch let alone be captain. I'd have given it to Stubbs but his form has fallen off the edge of a cliff, hit the bottom and is tunnelling below the ground.

Fantastic signing, a real quality addition. I'd say he's the most obvious choice for the captaincy too.

Hope he turns out better than the last “marque” player we signed from Hull City #goalmachine
