I'll repeat.... I'm not saying that the fact that the money was invested as pure luck. It was a requisite when he/she purchased so needed to be done.

I'm saying that they were lucky to find a buyer that would take a club on and be told they must invest x amount of money by previous share holders directors.

    Not complete nonsense at all....

It wasn't just Eisner who was willing to invest further in the club. There were at least three prospective buyers for Pompey who were willing to meet the prospectus conditions. I don't regard that as luck.

ML and JR could have done something similar at the time but decided not to. Their judgement in expecting R&R to take the club forward without any pre-conditions was misplaced as we now know.

I think @Dennis@Dennis's has summed it up well. The sale prospectus clearly stated the terms and Eisner did the deal on those terms.

It's not complete nonsense to think that aren't that many buyers around to agree to something like that, Bradford struggle to find a buyer full stop!

There's just something about Bradford that makes us unattractive to potential investors despite this myth that we have potential.

I don't care about his kids inheritance and if he did then he certainly shouldn't be buying a football club.

My point is that he can afford to improve the club on and off the pitch but he's deciding not too. Now loaning the club money he is doing nothing that Lawn can't do.

When other chairman loan clubs money the serious players are also investing in improving the club off the pitch and gaining them assets. Rupp is looking for repayment as soon as we make profit and I don't see how that in the long term advances the club?

Rhodes and Lawn made a massive mistake in basically not even finding out how Rupp and Edin plan to move the club forward? That plan still isn't there and we have gone backwards - That's a fact!

There are many things I can afford to do but chose not to, I could swap my Ford Focus for a BMW 5 series. There are things I might want to do and can afford to do but which make no sense at all, I could fly business class to Vegas and spend my cash on the slots. On the face of it my wife and I are worth a bit of money, but the overwhelming majority is equity out house I can’t realise quickly. Doesn’t mean I’m wealthy enough to charter a jet to Vegas and put £300k on the roulette table.

Maybe similar scenarios apply to Stefan Rupp. He was apparently believed Edin Rahic, and I suspect Julian and Mark did, many of the fans believed him. I don’t recall too many fans saying the Germans arriving was a bad move. So what more should Julian and Mark have done, what more could they have done, my recollection is Edin talked a bloody good talk.

Why should he piss good money after bad? At the moment football is about surviving, nobody or very few are spending in the lower leagues.

I don’t think he’s not spending enough, I think the money has been spent dreadfully unwisely on unsuitable players and managers, but he’s made the money available for his executives and football staff to spend.

What assets can he gain? Training ground? Stadium? Both aren’t happening. Players? There’s a salary cap which includes transfer fees I believe. Like I say, he made money available which could have been spent on scouting and coaching but the management wasted it on players. Maybe different on and off the field management would have done differently.

I’m no Rupp apologist, him and his erstwhile business partner have cost the club dear and set it back years, but I’m not sure what else he can do.

As you know to compare Portsmouth and Bradford City is not ideal, our attendances are based on very cheap season tickets where as when Pompey are going well they will fill there stadium no problem.
Again were talking a club with a lot of history and sucsess up to a point, even quite resently under Harry Redknapp, let's hope if there are potential new owners they come for the right reasons, as the majority though Rahic & Rupp had done.

All this condemnation aimed at Rhodes is regrettable.

Does he need to go? Yes. But lets just remember when
Rahic was ousted we were saved from Guy Fawkes being
let loose with a detonator and we were lucky his partner,
who knew nothing about running a football club, stayed
and pledged to stick with us.When Rhodes came in I think
most of us were relieved we had someone at the helm to
    maintain some sort of direction.

Rhodes' remit was not to save his business,it was to help
us through a stormy period when we were sinking rapidly.

His recruitment of managers was as bad as the managers
recruitment of players. But,we had some great times under
him and ML. I think we should look forward to a new CEO
who we hope will knock this club into shape and take us
    forward.

It didn't particularly work out for Rhodes but we should be
a bit more gracious rather than just throwing insults as he
loves our club just as much as we do.If we do this to people,
who will want to put themselves in line for more of the same?

I wish him well for the future and hope we can find something
positive from the fact he did his best to keep us afloat and for
    me,the club comes first.

Buying a football club has always about being pissing away money but to make money in football you have to take risks and have a plan for growth.

Yes, Edin might have messed a plan up but I didn't see anything while he was there that Rupp planned to take the club forward and I don't see any plan now either.

We don't have a player recruitment plan hence getting Evans and McCall doesn't even know where he recently has been playing. Counting on McCall's ipad isn't great is it?

Look, it is too late to go spending wildly now. I fully understand that in these uncertain times and the positive is Ryan forming partnerships with other businesses to improve certain things but the point remains that it seems like Rupp had no plan to start with when buying this club and without investment improvements its costing him a small fortune anyway.

That's just rubbish. Rupp and Rahic paid what was asked to Lawn and Rhodes for the football club. It is of no fault of theirs how it was run after they had left. And I'm not Rhodes biggest fan but fair play to him coming back at the request of Rupp, he didn't have to.

Is he getting paid too? Let's not make out he's doing this for the kindness of his heart.

Yes, of course Rupp and Edin paid the amount that was agreed to own the club but all we heard from Rhodes and Lawn was that Rupp and Edin can take the club forward and that's why it was sold to them. That hasn't been the case has it?
Rupp and Edin have done nothing Rhodes and Lawn couldn't.

Unfortunately it was their decision at the time not to back the manager after our Wembley appearance so they had every chance to show us fans that they were committed to both fans and the club doing as they said they would invest and take the club forward instead of adding to the squad they systematically took it apart because Rahic thought knew football.

But Rupp himself was seemingly tricked by Rahic. When the bought the club they made all the right noises, here for the long term, investing in bringing through young talent, aiming for the premier league, not changing the way things were done. It was only after the play off defeat that the wheels started to come off.

I’m no great fan Rhodes but I’m not sure what else he could have done four years ago. Hindsight is amazing.

Why did they make a massive mistake? You give me 6m for my business & I wouldn’t be the slightest bit concerned what you did with it

The mistake wasn't selling the mistake was making out to fans liked they cared who brought the business.
