Our football experience over the last two years has been awful, wake up Rhodes you’ve hired two managers and let them sign a lot of (poor) players in that period.

I would have respected him more if he’d shared a Skype type teams chat interview instead of bleating down the phone to Parker and bigging up his ‘prudence’.

    Feck off Rhodes.

Except for when he has taken us into admin. Which is a few times. He is good at trimming the wage bill and getting you relegated though.

Let's hope Rhodes assessment of suitability for his replacement is better than his suitability assessment when Messrs Rupp and Rahic came calling.

Few did at the time, and that was my point.

The Portsmouth example shows what can be done to guarantee further investment by new owners rather than simply relying on their word as the old owners did. As @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam said, JR's judgement should be questioned since this situation could have been avoided had they dealt with the sale differently.

I'm not saying it is lucky that he invested the money I'm suggesting it was lucky finding a buyer who would sign up to a club with conditions for their investment set by a previous owner/custodian.

If you’re advising Rupp to loan another £1.5m of his money, his kids’ inheritance, on Bradford City, pop down to Lloyds Bank and ask them for a loan, give them a detailed business plan including how much of your skin you are putting in and how you’ll pay them back. You can pay them back using the profits from the investment in a small business in a poor city with no real income for the foreseeable future, that’s fine.

Once they’ve stopped laughing you‘ll see why Rupp isn’t lending or spending much more than he has to to keep the business alive.

That's certainly one way but there are less onerous options. However it was intended to be enforced would be detailed in the S&P agreement

It wasn't just Eisner who was willing to invest further in the club. There were at least three prospective buyers for Pompey who were willing to meet the prospectus conditions. I don't regard that as luck.

ML and JR could have done something similar at the time but decided not to. Their judgement in expecting R&R to take the club forward without any pre-conditions was misplaced as we now know.

Unfortunately it was their decision at the time not to back the manager after our Wembley appearance so they had every chance to show us fans that they were committed to both fans and the club doing as they said they would invest and take the club forward instead of adding to the squad they systematically took it apart because Rahic thought knew football.

Why did they make a massive mistake? You give me 6m for my business & I wouldn’t be the slightest bit concerned what you did with it

The cracks were already beginning to show as early as mid April 2017 between McCall and Rahic, the information coming out of the club even back then spoke of a fractured relationship that got worse by the week. During the follwing months the warning signs from yet more info spoke of a club broken behind the scenes, some of the info from varied sources was painting a picture of a club falling apart at the seams. Knowing what was going on it was clear that Rahic would eventually be found out, just a case of when. That period from April to January the club was completely bat shit crazy behind the scenes.

    We know they're both responsible.

What does taking that responsibility look like, though?

Edin Rahic paid for it with his career in football, Stefan Rupp is paying for it by having to stay and clear up the mess he caused.

Sounds like the right outcome to me?

Dennis, We don't know what financial information ER provided to SR but i suspect that it flattered the situation and within the mgt accounts of a football club there is plenty of scope to be subjective with the recognition of revenue between months. I don't disagree with the point about lack of governance but you also need to consider the practical situation in that he had invested in a project of which he understood little and was totally reliant upon ER to deliver. It says more about the naivety of his original investment decision in the first place. However it meant that once committed he was to all intents and purposes stuck.

You have to also remember that there was a lot of noise coming out from VP - ER's lies vs the comments on social media, much of it in a form that was difficult to take seriously - but above all, the position of the team was sufficient to put his mind at rest and also gave a degree of credibility to what ER told him. ER made a big point of claiming how resistant people were to his ways of operating and was able to explain the negative vibes as the defensiveness of those being forced to change their ways. Of course he was inevitably going to be found out but conmen are chancers and ER was so deluded after his first season in charge that he believed his own propaganda that he would be successful.

There is no excuse for the situation but it is not quite as black and white as it is portrayed. Ultimately, as someone else has said, SR did the responsible thing and injected money in November, 2018 because he knew he was responsible for the mess and accepted a moral responsibility to avoid the club becoming insolvent.

Has he donated cash? Or provide an interest free loan? 2 very different things.

I asked John about the source of his information and he acknowledged it was derived from the club's internal management accounts hence the phrase FY19 etc. Those management accounts are not in the public domain and only John outside of the club seems to be privy to them. It's the financial accounts published at Companies House which provides all of the information for everybody else and even then in only a very abbreviated form. As I've said on many occasions, it would make sense for everybody if the club followed what most other lower league clubs do and published their full financial accounts as Ryan Sparks has previously agreed. Then we might have a better view of the club's financial position from published information which is in the public domain. It hasn't happened as yet.

That’s the biggest waste of a million quid since KLF had their moment in Scotland.

It does worry me that if they're waiting for the pandemic to be over to make the change then that won't be until 2023!

Maybe. But the term used is "identified" - it doesn't even actually say an agreement has been made. Maybe that is what is being referred to. I dunno. Seems a bit odd to delay recruitment as it might backfire if they opt to not take up the post
