Surprised Sutton has been offered a deal as he's barely featured in the last month or so and has been poor when he has played.

Hendrie is awkward as he is not good enough to be first choice but if he signs we have three contracted RBs at the club. Personally would've released him and Foulds.

 

You would think these three would be higher earners and would free up quite a bit of budget -

 

Unfortunately some of our fans think we should have a team full of 200k a week players and fail to accept we are a league 2 club with limited finances...

 

Are you sure? I know he's been through mental health challenges in the past and is an ally for mental health charities now but I haven't seen any mention of it this season.

Sorry but all I saw was someone who was a poor right back or someone playing in the wrong position. Just basics of tracking other players and actually running back to defend were lacking.

 

Better than Watt and Cooke……. ….!! Of the three he’d come last imho. Besides a bit of pace……what other attributes does he bring? Serious question Park.

ROD's wife isn't happy. She's tweeted that they found out he's been released on Twitter. I mean, they must have some idea it was coming but still, it's poor from the club if true.

 

The players found out about Hughes when he turned up to training and met them. What other way did you want them to meet?

 

They're totally different. Sutton equally does things Cooke cant/doesn't. Are you discounting those?

 

Agree. Still as a club there’s ways and means to go about things, I don’t like players family members complaining about the club it never used to happen and reflects badly on us.

If it’s true then I agree, normally it’s a face to face confirmation. We don’t know if it’s true however. I have had to do it with staff a number of times…It’s not pleasant but morally the right thing to do.
If he thought, in all honesty he would get a new contract, he’s frankly deluded,but that’s not what this debate is about clearly.

 

True, not even sure it’s the managers job though these days. Maybe mixed wires with the head of recruitment just coming in who knows. Still doesn’t sit right with me.

 

Maybe Bass passed on the news when he joined in January.

 

Cooke is on big wages and Sutton is a grafter, you know shit.

 

Let's call a spade, a spade. He's crap and regardless of confidence or motivation he isn't good enough to help us get where we need to be and we should try, if at all possible, to move him on.

Mrs O’Donnell is deluded if she didn’t know that her husband was to be released. He hasn’t played since Christmas and Hornby is still under contract next season.

 

I have staff at work on 12 month FTCs. If we don't require them after the 12th month, I don't just expect them to stop turning up on the first day of the 13th month, we let them know their services are no longer required.

It's not on the employee to ultimately read the clubs mind despite the outcome being seemingly obvious.

In his footballing days he never shirked a tackle I'm sure telling a player he is not getting a new contract would be something he would do, sacking people you have worked with isn't easy but players know that's the part and parcel of football a new manager comes in and doesn't fancy you as a player your contracts up and the decision is made sorry the club are not offering you another.

 

I should have typed if as IF, because whilst it would be disappointing from the club if true, I do think this has a similar 'sour grapes' vibe to it like the comments made by another ex keeper's wife a few years ago. ROD's tweet has no hint of ill feeling towards the club at all.
