    Thought they were fun and a handy time saver on claret and banter for lazy folk like me. But maybe just on a post by post basis and not aggregated over time, as I think that's what caused some of the problems.

    Nonsense. Having ratings causes less arguments. It's less confrontational to give someone a 'poop' than it is to personally call them on their bullshit and tell them they're talking shit. This site is no better or worse than C & B when it comes to petty arguments, ratings or not.

    Get your tech man to add in an option where folk can switch off their ratings if they don't want to be pooped/disagreed with for whatever reason. Ed did it in C & B. That way everyone gets their wish.

    The problems occurred when people dished them out and then disabled them so no one could respond. Then turn them back on when they wanted to use then immediately disabling them again

    I have a great life thanks.. and if you have seen all my posts over the last 20 years or so you would know I'm probably one of the most unserious and flippant of contributors. so i don't need any life lessons from inferiors,, ;)
