Would love to get a season ticket again and enjoy my football at VP but I fear it would be a waste of time and effort if not money. I long for a new owner, positive statement of intent and a forward looking strategy.

Tell you what for any business/football club, the write ups in this thread are very damning. As a club in regression, losing around half its season tickets within the Rupp era, this football club is in a real downward trajectory.

There is deffo a perception that we've been doing things on the cheap.

Internal appointments in very key positions - from the board room to the managers - all extremely inexperienced in their actual roles.

But here, I'll tell you what will change it up. If we're losing business due to being perceived as cheapskates...

... we should telegraph that we're gonna reduce the playing budget next season months and months in advance.

Problem solved, back to being a premium product :cool::cool:

Now that's how you run a business.

My worry is that too many more seasons of mid table mediocrity in league 2 and an uninterested distant owner, albeit one who they say pays the bills, and this club might get in to a situation it will be hard to get out of. I like a lot of what Sparks says but he needs to be successful, only an unbelievable mid season run saved us this season.

I like his will to succeed, its something you need in any form of business. Not accepting mediocrity, words that a fair few on here poured scorn over when used by posters like myself but then Sparks himself used those very words. I guess its alright if it comes from the club hierachy. That said, there are sometimes when less is more in terms of constant media talk and only action on the pitch will actually mean anything. heck i've even read posters on here suggesting on here Sparks won't be here long due to be head hunted. For doing what exactly? We need to wait till the club is challenging for or gaining promotion to be coming out with statements like that.
The club is heading in a better direction since Rhodes and McCall left although in reality it had just about reached rock bottom so couldn't drop any further. Sparks now has one of the biggest decisions the club has faced for a long time and could shape the future landscape of the club and its fan base. A decision that could easily go either way.

It's a 3 for me - don't forget we only had a 5 point scale to choose from. I reckon that if we had stayed near the bottom and then T & S had gradually got us to the position where we are then there would have been a much better response from all on here. The problem is that we looked to be heading for better things when another rot set in, I'm not a happy clapper, only a realist and yes - how we are doing now is supermeh, but it won't stop me getting my season tickets for another go next season. That's football!

You are right to a degree, they probably are victims of their own success.

But this is an overall look at the season so I’m not sure how you give it a 3? Another way to look at it would be pre season would you have given it a 3 out of 5 for ending bottom half in league 2? The club shouldn’t need miracle runs just to survive at this level. I think a 3 is very generous.

Can I suggest that, after reading the assessments on here, Ryan really needs to hit us as soon as this abysmal season finishes with a piece of news that shows our positive intent for next time out and regenerates some interest in season ticket sales - there is a lot of lethargy about and whilst Wetherby is right (City is in the blood) what has happened during Covid means fans have had time to do other things and now reassess if they can stomach another shambles of a season first hand.
There will of course be some who just cannot wait bo be back in the ground no matter what but the fact that long term supporters are seriously questioning if they can be bothered should be very worrying for the club - and 'floating' fans will certainly not be attracted to re-attach to the club based on this seasons sorry efforts.
I have every confidence in Ryans intent but we need some tangible lift more than ever

I'm giving Ryan the benefit of doubt for now, but in many years of working in financial services I've seen hundreds of Ryan Sparks types who come into an organisation, spout absolute corporate ballcocks for a year, do untold damage to staff morale and customer goodwill before disappearing to the next slot on their cv to repeat the process.

So far he's talked the talk, but he needs to back that up this summer or he's going to lose a massive amount of goodwill.

With 1 being relegation and 5 being champions, it has to be a 2. One to forget and hopefully we put it right next season.

With T&S in charge though I expect another 2.

I’ve worked with one or two of them, these people know exactly who to be nice to and when but cause chaos amongst everyone else. They view everything as a competition with them as the only winner, every success is their success and every failure someone else’s. Think they know everything but know nowt. I despise them, lowest of the low.

It is better to have a hole in your organisation chart than an arsehole in it.

For clarity not saying Sparks is like that.

So let me get this right. You think finishing bottom half in div 2 is acceptable?

We have gone from outside the play offs to bottom half and you are rating the season as a 3? Really? Really?
