What do you make of this article? I have no problem with them looking for a head coach if that's the road they want to go down, however i think the recruitment strategy is flawed and it would seem like Rahic's outlook on lower league footballers hasn't really changed, which is a tad worrying.

Don't get me wrong, players can improve but most don't improve to the level that Rahic wants them to improve to. I.e be good enough to get sold on. In fact, the majority find their level pretty early on in their careers and stay there. The likes of Poleon, Chicksen etc are always going to be lower league footballers and we are not going going to miraculously make then into superstars, particularly when they had played 100+ games before they had arrived and had shown no signs of being one at their previous clubs. The sooner Rahic realises that you can't manufacture talent the better.

Another example I can think of are our history makers.'Darby, Meredith and Mcardle were all young when they arrived here, they were all relatively unproven, they improved during their time here (sound familiar?) and were all part of a defensive unit which was immense for us, yet collectively none of them were good enough to earn us big money and their careers epitomise that of lower league footballers. If our best defensive unit in over a decade weren't good enough to earn us large amounts of money or turn themselves into superstars, just how much does he want substandard players to Improve?

Lets be honest, It was this exact same logic which resulted in us wasting 500k in transfer fees. It's almost as if he's looked at the likes of Poleon, Reeves and Mcarten and though "they are between the ages of 20-25, we'll improve them". If only it was that easy...

I agree totally with this post. It concerns me that there is no mention of achieving 'on field' success in this business plan. And lets face it, at the end of the day, this is all we want. Edin seems obsessed with changing everything at our club. 'A manager like no other in league one'? This worries me.

It seems a risky ideology to me. Sound in theory, but difficult to put into practice when still wanting to be competitive. I like the ambition, particularly the aim to play attractive football, but we will still have to depend on a fair import of quality to move forward. Have to admire their dogged determination to fulfil their plan of overall prudence running the affairs of the Club, but have we as fans, the patience to follow their dream. Brilliant if we engage a coach that can kickstart the revolution and successfully implement the plan things could get quit exciting. But it's a tall order imo, fingers crossed though, we all want football and a team to be proud of, especially on the new playing surface. Let's hope Edin finally delivers for us.

Just to confirm it a 'Head Coach' we're after as it's only mentioned 20 times.

The reality is you probably need 5-10 years to start to see the real benefits of this strategy.

Edin's preparing us for several years of mid table/flirting with the play offs at best.

All the talk of promotion has gone.

We're starting to get the consistency of expectations being set to the longer term.

    Thumbs up for the communication.

It's just so frustrating that we were so close to the Championship and we've ripped it up and started again.

Agree. No mention of on field success.
Cut our cloth accordingly. Can’t financially compete with Sunderland. The statements I understand. Problem is when they are set against we are aiming for top 2. That doesn’t compute.
Simple facts are. R&R talked about a 3 year plan to get us up. Next season is year 3.
If they succeed happy days. If they fail they have had 3 years and proven that what they want to achieve is not possible and it’s time to step aside. If next season is anything like this City will not have enough ST holders in 2020 to make it viable anyway.

We have ambitions, Edin has an idea (different to having a clue) and no money.

TBF he’s communicating his plans, exactly what everybody wanted him to do. I think they’re half baked and will end in tears.

Interesting that Grayson leaving suited both parties. In other words Grayson had no intention of playing the 'sexy' football they demand, nor buying into their mandate of developing youngsters.

I truly hope we appoint Warburton, who I believe has a reputation of coaching and getting the best out of youngsters, whilst still achieving success, typified by his spell at Brentford.

One of the best City sides to watch in the 50 odd years I've been watching, is the title winning side of 84-85, who were made up of discarded youngsters. and our own youngsters, and of course with the experience of Campbell, Hawley and Evans. It proved to be a wonderful mix, brilliantly managed, and coached by Cherry and Yorath
However, the big difference in those days, was that there were no clubs competing with us with massive parachute payments such as Sunderland next season, which I feel is so unfair to all other clubs in the division.

Despite wanting Warburton, I reckon it will be Cathro who gets the nod. Cannot see Cotterill working under the owners mandate, he appears to be too old school for that

I was just about to put the same, Rahic and Rupp do have ambition, but crucially no money. That's not to say it can't work, but you'd be going against what are now the fundamentals of successful football club and their ownership.

“We dont want to have to sign 20 players if we got to the championship” what did he think we would have to do if we had beaten Millwall ? Also they sacked McCall because they wanted play offs and promotion??? Long term planning is all well and good but Not sure theyve stuck by those principles since they arrived, its very much been about getting promoted

It’s mixed messages, they want an entertaining brand of football yet wanted Grayson on a longer deal? He might be successful but entertaining....god no! I just get the impression they want to have their cake and eat it. If whoever comes in as head coach will be sacked if they don’t reach the play offs with peanuts to spend. Fair enough wanting to achieve success on a budget but they will be given unrealistic targets. If not they should have just stuck with Stuart.

Does this man ever talk anything other than utter bollocks?

We need a manager we can have confidence in and crucially who the players have confidence in, not somebody we’re giving a chance to!

They’re not changing their model, so all that about having learnt lessons was more bullshit. If they have learnt lessons they’re obviously not the right ones.

We’re still going to try to do it on the cheap. That’s really working!

    I’m seriously concerned.

Can't see it being much above that to be honest
Grayson was a waste of time regarding lessons learned
Would take anything above relegation next season now
Next thing you know we will be having a name change
