Yep, agreed. For me it is one of the many reasons we don't progress, its part (possibly a small part) of the incompetence.

 

I agree with the general gist of your post. Problem with point 3 is that although in principle it's an idea, all Gibb has to say is go play at Odsal then. As we all know Odsal ain't for professional football, never has been and Gibb would obviously know that. Truth is we hold a very poor set of cards when it comes to negotiations and Gibb is an astute businessman. He wouldn't have bought it in the first place otherwise. Without an owner or owners who want to seriously push this club forward, and let's face it apart from BFG we've never had anyone before or since him who was serious, then we are sat at the poker table trying to bluff with King High.

 

Goals win you games and the stats of our squad lay bare the facts there ain't a lot of goals in this lot. We're more likely to score from a defender than a midfielder and our strikers are hit and miss especially with Cook injured. Either Adams brings in proven goals or we continue to tread water no matter what your xG tables tell you.

Agreed. The pattern is clear enough now. Talk is cheap - we need more quality in this side, simple as that. And unless there's positive and compelling action in January, ST sales will take a real hit in the summer. I voted with my feet in the summer and i wasnt alone - others will do the same in greater number.

 

Adams ain't daft, he knows that lack of goals is killing him and his side. Who or how he chooses to remedy that I don't care, any one of the forward six could be replaced as long as it brings a threat of more goals being scored. There are players here that a team can be built around but there are too many passengers along for the ride.

Lets call it out though. Quality goalscorers cost money. We ain't willing to pay what it takes, so whoever we take in will be a punt - either a young loan, or another journeyman 'with a point to prove'.

 

Rupp knew the situation when he bought the club, the stadium alone cost him £xxx thousand before a ball is kicked it's no good coming out with platitudes about it takes 1/3 of our season ticket money blah blah blah, you have to ask just how much he knew about the situation at Valley Parade and ask if whoever did the due diligence did a thorough job.

 

Excellent point, the club managed to pull in over 13,000 S/T's even with an increase in price which was a fantastic effort.
Then you look at the squad and wonder where the money went as it is comically lacking in quality- ground rent+VAT man to be paid +family tickets where the kids are not paying= an Adams style budget.
At least City crossed the rubicon to put the prices up but if over 13,000 gets you this averageness what is the number they need for a player budget of £2.2- £2.5 million?

 

I can’t remember the last time we didn’t go into January needing a “goal scorer”.
It’s a bit of a myth sometimes. We had two in vaughan and Doyle previously and binned them off without a second thought. We deserve to be at the bottom end of league two the way we are run

 

And now we have Derek "I've spent only £40k in 14 years" Adams In charge to sort out the mess in January.

I have a sneaky feeling Rupp never even knew it would be a possibly to end up as a mid table league 2 side without any real signs of us getting back to league 1!

 

That comment is so frightening but so true, what makes it worse is he put his trust and money on a no mark who could sell sand to Arabs.
I'm not writing this season off (I have money on it) but if we don't achieve promotion many die hard Bradford City fans will have to question where do we go from here, Rome wasn't built in a day sounds familiar but many are going to question how much of an appetite does he have for running a football club with minimum input from the owner.

Rome wasn't built in a day. But various other clubs manage to go from being utterly shit, to pushing top 3 within then space of a summer. And without putting their club at risk of bankruptcy. Look at Port Vale this season as an example.

 

This is what some people are failing to understand.

Other clubs have done extremely well without putting their club at risk.

Sparks basically ripped up everything he said last year about his vision for Adams.

We have an owner that’s just not interested. He’s worse than Edin.

I think at any other club barring passive Bradford City they would be calls to get Sparks and Rupp out now. Certainly Rupp.
