Racism last night

Why would you be shocked? In a group of ~14k people you're always going to get at least a few morons. We could and should strive to reduce such instances but it'll never be 100% eradicated. The best we can do is drive a cultural where society moderates itself and such behaviour is roundly condemned and appropriate action taken swiftly. Our younger generations are educated much more effectively on diversity (or at least, some of that education is effective, some is misguided in my opinion) so hopefully nonsense like this reduces over time - but it wont happen quickly.

 

Address this issue @wetherbywhaler..I know the club will be discussing racism but it's highly disappointing to read threads like this

I saw the messages on the digital screens but it has to be made crystal clear that any racism to players or fans would result into life time bans!

Everyone needs to understand the punishment and it's not open for debate

 

It didn't happen inside the ground. Why would the club be accountable for taking action?

 

Shocked because it's 2019 and you would of thought by now that everyone would know a person who has Black skin is a human like people with white skin.

 

Its almost as though people think they have license to act this way these days. I wonder why that could be?

 

Disgusting behaviour but a couple of questions from myself:
1. Are we sure they were city fans? Did they have city tops on etc
2. Why hasn’t a description been posted? This would surely help with tracking them down.

Let’s hope they are identified and banned from all city matches

They were on the way to the game, Bradford fans and abused by Bradford fans!

This is one of the issues with racism as people treats like handling a hot potato and wanting to pass the book.

Bradford City need to deal with it, the council, and public.. can't just leave it because it wasn't on your watch.

If some attacked you on the streets what you say the police said we're not dealing this it because it didn't happen in your house? Seriously mate.. think about what you're saying!

 

Of course it matters, that's a job for the police, not the club! Lower league clubs don't have the resources, nor the responsibility to 'police' how their supporters act in general public.

 

Ignorance and prejudice will never be eradicated. And racism exists across all racial demographics.

 

Yes, but it needs addressing and no excuses like this.

It seems that the gender issue is easier to address for businesses and businesses seem less willing to address ethical employment & leadership.

The issues need dealing with society but Bradford City as a community organisation needs to fully concentrate on addressing matters like this even if it happened outside their grounds. So mate, if a complaint has been made then the club should as less remind everyone that it won't be accepted and life time bans will result if the club feels they're guilty. Don't pass the book mate as you get nowhere!

As you see @Faithful Bantam not hard. A person with your intelligence shouldn't pass the book in life. Take ownership and deal with issues!

The 'Black' guys don't help themselves by being arrogant on 'their own patch'. I know many of these guys, and they are as intolerant of the 'new breed' as you and I. It happens all over the world ....... It's not so much racist, but territorial.

Which I haven't done. I've said it's a police matter. No objection to the club assisting, but we do need an element of care - where does it stop becoming the clubs responsibility to intervene...?

I'm with @Fordy117 - City fans on the way to a game abusing anyone (fellow fan or otherwise) should be given a lifetime ban.

If nothing else, it will prevent them spreading discord in the area.

 

Hmm i voted to leave the EU and yet never see the need to use racism in my daily life. To claim Brexit is the catalyst for something that has always been there would be laugable if it wasn’t such a serious subject.
