It was clearly related to the coaches because players don't need a physical description as they have numbers on them, if it was a player it would have just been 'number y'.

The craziest thing about this is Black is the accepted term, describing someone as Black is not racist unless followed by something like bastard.

The worst thing about this is the most vocal black people on the likes of twitter have timelines full of posts, retweeted posts and likes where they regularly refer to white people as things like white guy or even worse using slurs like cracker. Double standard like that just cause confusion

 

At CL level the number is usually on most pieces of clothing.

 

I can't see it on the coat so maybe the coats are not standard parts of the kit and were just handed out because players were cold however he has his number on his jogging bottoms



Webo does have P.W on his so potentially those could have been used but initials aren't unique and without the officials knowing the names of all the non-playing staff on the bench (Which if they did they would have used names) they can't really use that. At Man Utd we have both Carrick and Clegg, both first name Micheal so if a 4th official said it was the coach with MC on his clothing he could get the wrong one.

You need something unique to identify people and if we are going down the route that using descriptive terms about traits that make them stand out is seen as offensive then we need coaching staff to be walking around with something to identify them from a distance because you could equally see a red head claiming saying the Red Head as being offensive or the short person being described as short ect.

Mind you I suspect Webo actually has no issue being described as black, rather that he heard a word that sounded like negro in a conversation going on in Romanian and by the time he actually took a moment to let them explain it had gone so far that no-one could back down. If it was an English team of officials and they had said the black one I just don't think it would have escalated, it was the word negru that upset him as its easy to mishear
