BB I cannot for the life of me understand why what I have said would wind up any of us ? It's got to be some of the most positive constructive thinking being put forward about how the club team and management need to approach a season in a League whether we like it or not we should not be in ???

We need to demand ...on Rupp on Rhodes on Bowyer on the Players accept responsibilities act like grown up men running a grown up Football club free us of this quagmire of a pub league automatic and at the first attempt ! Step away from those demands and excuses and mediocrity fill the void. I'm demanding everything and you should do so too. No hiding place no way just think of the complete crapp we are playing week in week out it is literally an "open goal every single week" we need to make sure we are punishing these pub teams every single time.

Can I make it any clearer ?

As I've just said, Fordy goes on bare about ambition and has then said we should give the worst city squad in my lifetime a clean slate lol. It just shows he's demanding things with no idea of how to actually achieve them. You think I want us to be in L2? Do I feck lol but I'd rather us build properly to go up and stay up rather than squeak in this year with the majority of the shit still under contract.

Cheers. I may have misunderstood the original question. I thought we were looking for teams finishing bottom and then going straight back up as Champions. This was based (possibly incorrectly) with the claim we should be “smashing up L2”.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but yes you’re right. Bury finished bottom, got relegated and bounced back to finish 2nd the following season

And just for those interested, Bury completely revamped their squad too. A total of 13 players left with a further 9 leaving on loan. Incoming were 11 players with another 6 joining on loan.

Something we need to do if we have hope of top 7, if any City smashes the league it’s unfortunately more likely to be Salford.

    Fair play mate. Well replied.

Well for me I am over last season. When I set back and view it I can't pin the blame on one individual. Edin was the biggest person the blame should fall on I agree.

As a squad we were poor but it doesn't mean that individually they're that bad. Wilson will soon be at Cov on a 3 year deal and some others will sign for clubs in a higher league than us soon.

We need to start thinking and acting like a big club. We need to believe! I believe if Mr Rupp and Mr Rhodes do their fecking jobs and that us fans start demanding more from the club and not be lazy minded that we will get promoted next season.

Bowyer hasn't signed a 2 year deal to be a div 2 manager. He believes!

We all need to move on from last season. Yes, it's one of the worst seasons in Bradford City history in terms of football but many reasons why.

Let's stop letting people lower our expectations!

Anything but automatic promotion is failure for this club next season.

The board have given Bowyer a budget that they believe should be good enough to get out of League2. HOWEVER, £1.6m of this is tied up in players that have proved time and again that they are not good enough.

Unless Bowyer can move on many of those, his hands are still very much tied. Adding 5-6 quality players to this squad will not be enough to turn us from bottom of League1 into top of League2.

Now, if he can move on the likes of Riley, O’Connor, Wright, McCartan, Patrick and possibly Akpan, his ability to address the many weaknesses of his squad will be greater. And if that happens, then I back him to give the League2 Championship a challenge.

If he doesn’t, I think he will struggle to generate enough funds to add to the £1m already promised, and build a squad capable of getting out of the league.

    That isn’t “defeatist”..... that’s being a realist

I agree with your sentiments and have said similar already. But it’s not true to suggest relegated teams rarely bounce back at the first attempt. Only this season saw 50% of the relegated teams bounce back. It does happen.

But, those clubs were able to break up their squads and effectively start again. Bowyer and City don’t have that luxury as too many are tied down on big contracts. Until we can offload them and allow Bowyer to revamp his squad, we are not going to be challenging the top10, let alone top3..... despite how much stamping of feet and demanding some folk are..!

Agree and had this out with the supposed “we are accepting mediocrity” brigade who keep resurfacing.

If anyone’s seen the Sunderland Netflix documentary I’d say they were quite forceful in their views towards the side and yet got relegated and struggled to get out of league one despite a big budget.

As I said before. It’s down to good management and recruitment. Nothing else really matters

So, a contracted budget of £1.6m isn’t counted towards our budget? Because it doesn’t fit with your agenda? A budget of £2.6m in League2 IS competitive, however you want to spin it. Remember Fordy, you claim you rate these players that make up this £1.6m and that they should be given another chance.

No, I’m not saying I believe @Jason McKeown@Jason McKeown or the WOTP articles. But the source was our media manager and I note Simon Parker has reaffirmed the figures in his article. He was at the same W&A session.

Maybe but we're moving away from what the real crux of what I was talking about into a discussion that has been had a hundred times.

I personally saw no sign of Parkinson taking us as far as he could and pretty much every single move we made (with the exception of swapping Hanson for Wyke which gave us a massive boost) was a backwards step.

Pretty much every player we replaced from the Parkinson team was worse, then every player we replaced from the McCall team was worse still. Until we are where we are.

Ok so if 1.6 million gets you 16 squad player at league 1 level on league 1 wages then what does 1 million get you in league 2?
I’d say it’s a good enough budget to get out of this league and certainly more than we had last time around

Which ever of the high earners stay if they can show any sort of constancy with players Bowyer will add I believe we will be there or there about's, league two is a very poor league but having quality in your team should never be a disadvantage.

With who is currently still here which players would go where. I'd expect to see O'Donnell, Mellor, O'Connor, Everton-Richards playing prominent roles depending on fitness, Doyle and Scannell upfront and out wide, again dependant on them being here. Akpan in midfield. Who else have we got? Can't remember off hand. We definitely need another striker cos we've only got one. A left back. Central midfield as only Akpan is remotely good enough. A left sided midfielder. Another striker in case one gets injured. I'm presuming Bowyer already has targets for these positions.
